We had a great lunch, fantastic value for money, 3 lovely courses for £19.95. I had the cheese souffle to start with which was light and fluffy - i did pay the supplement to have the lobster sauce which really added to the dish. Lamb for the main course which was lovely and pink, and a melt in the mouth chocolate fondant & cherry sorbet for dessert - yum yum all round. I have been here before and we had the 5 course chef tasting menu which was also delicious, so I would happily recommend this restaurant. The only slight negative was that we had to wait a while after asking for the bill.

Booked for lunch with my family with our 6 week old grandson. Booking was easy and the newly refurbished hotel and restaurant looked fantastic. Staff really helpful and accommodating. The Jetty at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel is a favourite of ours and therefore we were expecting the same standard of cuisine as the menu seemed the same style. Unfortunately it wasn't as good and therefore we were a little disappointed. Very good but not really good and expensive if it's not a fantastic meal. One of the starters was wrongly written down so had to be redone, (didn't have to wait long but still) and the bill was wrong because of this. I had the fish pie, it had peas in it but they weren't cooked for long enough and still a bit hard. Just not refined enough to warrant the cost. However the people who came in later for Afternoon Tea, that looked fantastic!

We had a superb lunch at the Harbour Hotel recently. The decor is lovely and such a nice, bright restaurant. Our waitress, whom we didn't get her name but was from the Czech Republic was very nice and very efficient. My husband had the Tasting Menu which was excellent and so nicely presented. My set menu was also delicious and every course cooked perfectly. My daughter had the scallops with bacon which was her favourite dish.

The 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal and wine there was lot of variety and taste surprises.
2 dishes stand out for different reasons, the Japanese starter was thought to be fantastic and when we return I'm sure all of us will choose it. However the octopus whilst very enjoyable was just too small, barely a mouthful in all. One other small complaint the steak tartare was ordered as a main and whilst the steak quantity was doubled the egg was not and that detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. But to balance the comments the food overall was excellent

We had an unhappy lunch. I had boked out table for 2pm. We arrived at 1.50pm and advised the person behind the bar that we had arrived and that we would be sitting in the conservatory. At 2.20pm, after nobody had been near us. I went to see if our table was ready. A woman who had not been around earlier, was standing behind a desk. I asked her if our table was ready and the response was that they were about to close. I told her what I have detailed above. Her response was that she hadn't been around when we arrived and that she had just been told of our arrival when I approached her. We were shown to our table and given the menus (which were grubby) and selected what we wanted to eat - the beef wellington - and were told at that moment that they had sold out. Eventually, we selected alternatives. Both the starters and the main courses were luke warm, except for the roast potatoes which were very over cooked. The lamb, as shown on the menu, was accompanied by shepherds pie, the taste of which did not complement the roast lamb and wasn't nice in any event.

The desserts were good. The cost was considerably higher than expected.

The starter of crab crocette was tasteless but my steak and chips were delicious. Lighting was too bright and table arrangement lacked intimacy or atmosphere. Previous visit 3 years ago was much better. There were no really nice tables to sit at in the whole restaurant.
