Food and service excellent. Have been a few times previously and the food wasn't as good, but a great improvement, well done !!

Dating back to the 18th century, the Red Lion is a characterful pub in the picturesque village of Todwick. Seasonal menus, fine wines and cask ales are served amidst oak beams and roaring fires.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, the Red Lion menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at Red Lion pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

A charming rural pub, The Red Lion in Yorkshire is a 25-minute drive from Sheffield.

Nice staff, waited a while initially for orders to be taken but other than that it was very good

Very poor service. Not busy yet took forever for someone to take our order. Drinks order then took forever to come. Friend ended up with chewing gum on her trousers from the chair she was sat on. Whilst appreciating staff are not going to check every chair, they did not really seem interested when we told them. Food was lively but we won't be coming back.

A decent pub Sunday lunch. I would return - it is reasonable value and the quality expected for a decent pub

The wait staff were excellent! The atmosphere was wonderful. But the meal I had (seafood in pastry) was not very good. Very little seafood in the pastry. And the potatoes not cooked very well. My daughter had the beetroot curry and that was good. But mine was very poorly cooked.

Good food and service as always. Love the contactless card payment at bar.

My partner and I certainly enjoyed the Sunday roast - the half roast chicken was delicious! The atmosphere was relaxing. We will definitely be returning.

The bar area was poorly attended, asking for a lime and soda for our driver the barman filled a large glass with soda and the smallest measure he could find to measure out lime cordial. We spoke to waiting staff of our reservation and was offered a table in the middle of a busy area which we refused and asked to be in a less busy area that was available but no marked reserved table. When ordering our meals we were told of 3 generally staple meals were not available (Steak pie, Steak and Chicken supreme). The waitress did not write anything down which was not a good omen. Our hot starters arrived but not cold starters, the vegetables were defiantly al dente! the fish parcel was mediocre, we tried to ordered Baked Alaska and were told it was still frozen! therefore unavailable. Drinks were ordered and after 10mins ?they did not arrive, then to be asked by a different waitress would like to order drinks. We ordered Specialty coffees that were delivered to the wrong table and a large plain coffee that arrived small. To finish off a waitress came to our table with a card reader and asked us to pay our bill, we hadn't see a bill and we were paying with cash. When the bill arrived we were given a discount card to be used as many times as we wished in January and February was this a gesture of there bad service!

We felt other diners who walked in without booking were getting a far better service.
