We had carvery. The meat was delicious unfortunately let down by an extremely poor selection if vegetables including partially cooked boiled potatoes and rick hard roast potatoes

Took my sister and brother-in-law out for dinner as they were visiting from England. Had an enjoyable meal, service was good, staff friendly and helpful. Good choice of main meals which we all enjoyed and the men enjoyed the choice of beers on sale.

Went here because we needed somewhere near Motherwell that wasn't a a chinese for cramped you into a small space. And it met those requirements. Lovely outside and in, though I did wonder at the poisonous land it was built on and if it seeped up through the floor yet. This whole area is the site of the Ravenscraig Steele works. I had booked so seating was not a problem. It was busy and there was plenty atmosphere. Although extremely child friendly, the children did not, by good design of the restaurant designers, impinge on couples only time.

When booking I noted that I was lactose intolerant and along with our menus came a list to check ingredients. That impressed the boots off of me.

Its a two for one deal. My husband and I had the carvery. The gammon was lovely, the beef was tasteless and I am told the turkey was excellent. The vegetables lacked heat and the roast potatoes were undercooked and then shrivelled from the heat of the lamps. The gravy is best described as molten plastic and the sage and onion stuffing was inedible. As I said in the title, had better had worse.

Then came the sweet. All sweets contained milk so I didn't get one. Never the less my loving husband decided to share his with me by describing its deliciousness. Apparently it was good old fashioned rolly polly made with suet. I had a coffee, which I had to provide my own milk for as they don't carry a non dairy alternative. The coffee was excellent.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Would I go back? Truthfully, I don't know. They had a dog friendly area out back and that might draw me back but I wouldn't drive the extra miles passed closer pub grub chains to get there.
