Good meal, particularly potato and celeray soup, haddock bake and fish. Two sequencial glasses of dry white house wine were notiecably different but acceptable. Service slow (1hr 20 min to complete a two course meal for 3, starting at 18.30) but friendly. Surroundings pleasant and not crowded.

Built in 1901, the Raven Hotel Hook is a wonderfully restored former manor house offering a varied British menu and cask ales. The open-plan restaurant has an unmistakable rustic charm with exposed stone walls and dark, classic furnishings, and there is ample outdoor seating as well.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, the Raven Hotel menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at Raven Hotel pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

A warm and inviting Hampshire venue, the Raven Hotel is a 2-minute walk from Hook Rail Station.

Visited 5:30 on a Sunday. No one available when arrived. Despite on line reservation chose our table and wiped it clean ourselves. Music very loud. Asked for it to be turned down. Ordered 2 adult meals and 2 children meals. No sign of them after 35 minutes. Chased them up and arrived within 5 minutes. Good food.

Booked on line. On arrival at 7.15pm all tables were uncleared from previous diners. Seating was filthy. Nearly two hour wait between starters and main course. Wrong orders arrive at table. Was given lemon sorbet courtesy of manager to say sorry for delay. Tables not cleared. Would we eat here again, no. Would I recommend this eating house no. Sorry
