With iconic status on the capital's restaurant scene, Quaglino's has offered brasserie dining in London since 1929. James Hulme’s contemporary European menu uses the highest-quality British ingredients, and is served against a backdrop of glamorous décor and live jazz.

The Quaglino’s menu is fittingly sophisticated, with dishes such as Highland wild red deer with parsnip purée and braised red cabbage epitomising the restaurant’s penchant for the luxurious. More simple classics also feature, including fillet of steak au poivre and papardelle with smoked tomatoes and aubergine.

An extravagant venue, Quaglino’s has two bars: a central cocktail bar in the main dining room and a mezzanine bar overlooking the restaurant below. Both serve classic cocktails and boast a wine list of over 300 varieties. The restaurant is also renowned for live music, transforming Quaglino’s into a late-night party spot.

Located in well-heeled Mayfair, Quaglino’s restaurant is a 4-minute walk from Green Park Tube Station and an 8-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus.

The atmosphere upon first walking into the restaurant is great - it is made to feel quite grand, so it's ideal if you're celebrating a special occasion. The service was very good - the waiting staff were very attentive BUT they did make us feel like we were being rushed through to make way for a later table booking, which I thought was a little rude. We were served our starters and main courses within 20mins of arrival, even though I asked if they could slow down so we could actually enjoy the night. As this was for my boyfriend's birthday, I has made a note on my booking request for something special. This request was ignored and there was no candle/decorated plate etc as one would normally expect. It was not until I had paid and was leaving that they asked why I had paid (why shouldn't a woman pay for a meal?? Sexist comment) and I said we were celebrating a birthday, that they actually did something about it. They gave us free glasses of prosecco, but ushered us away from the table at the same time so they could seat someone else.
The food was good - not a lot of it, which men may find annoying. But the quality is nice. Bar is a great place to view and survey the restaurant

I haven't been here for over twenty years and wasn't sure what to expect, especially having the set menu. I have to say the food was outstanding as well as the service. Really good value.

the restaurant décor was lovely and the food was divine. the 2 issue that I had for the evening were,
2 drunken girls practically dancing on top off me, they were so inappropriate and no disregard of the public.
the food was great but unfortunately I found the portions to be a tad small.
the staff were very welcoming and polite and do accommodate your requirements

Had told them it was my 60th birthday and we had a lovely table and a special birthday desert and staff singing happy birthday which was a nice touch. Lovely ambience helpful friendly staff even though we were having the fixed menu, great cocktails and help choosing them
Beautiful flowers .A super evening. We had to vacate the table by 8pmafter arriving at 6pm ,but we knew that upon booking and were not made to feel rushed at all.Really enjoyed the occasion .

If you like overrated food (my wife's chicken was overcooked and dry) served at speed (was my wife's chicken pre-cooked?) in semi-darkness to the accompanying load thud of techno music, this is the place for you.

Opening glass of fizz was very small and not cold enough - unlike the white wine (carafe of Chardonnay) which was very good. Wine glasses were removed as soon as they were emptied - why the haste?

Nontheless, the staff were very accommodating and listened to our concerns. I suspect they were just complying with House Rules and instructions - but that does not excuse the quality of the food.

But maybe we're just the wrong age group.

Every nice. Efficient service but not too quick

  • ((*** 10 April 2017 by J from London

Service was so quick that within half an hour of siting down we'd had our starter and our main course. Not the place to go if you want a relaxing leisurely meal.
