    An evening out & on a Saturday. Lovely restaurant with great ambience and friendly staff. Food really good and imaginative, well cooked and nicely presented - no faults.

    We dined on a Saturday evening with foodie friends and received a warm welcome on arrival at Purslane. We all struggled in deciding what to have as the menu, though not extensive, had the right balance of dishes which all sounded very appealing. We were given information on the dishes when we asked which then helped us to decide. The starters of scallops, chicken bon bons and cod cheeks were as good as they sounded on the menu. Followed and equalled by the quality of mains - the duck was divine, the wild mushroom tagliatelle flavoursome and the hake was quickly scoffed. No room for desserts for two of us but we had the tasty petit fours and coffee the others enjoyed the cheese board and colourful crackers. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends.

    Four of us ate at 8.30 on a Saturday evening. Restaurant is small and was full when we arrived but the welcome was friendly. The atmosphere was buzzing, but it was the food that was the star - each of us cleared every plate, including pudding. The wine was very reasonably priced and the food excellent value for money - we will definitely return.

    Dinner at 8pm. Service excellent, friendly and quick. Starter of pigeon breast was very tough. Main course potatoes were cold and main portions were far too small. Overpriced. This place will fail unless they review the experience on offer.

    This is a great place for an evening meal- the food, staff and atmosphere were all fantastic. We especially enjoyed the wild boar starter and the chocolate marquise dessert. If you're looking for a relaxed and fun night out with food that's good value for money- this is the place to go!
