Seamlessly fusing the heritage of its residence with modern accents in the dining room, the stylish restaurant space is flooded with natural light from the classically-Victorian arched windows.

With the living room restaurant space dedicated to sociable and relaxed fine dining, the Purnell’s menu offers a variety of inventive ‘Brummie tapas’ dishes, ideal for sharing. A selection of tasting menus are also available at the West Midlands restaurant, offering dishes such as tail fillet of beef rolled in liquorice charcoal, and waffles with foie gras butter with crispy chicken skin. A classic 3 or 5-course lunch menu offers contemporary British cuisine, such as duck breast with apple and celeriac puree, and roasted plaice with confit tomato and pickled shallots.

Offering informal fine dining and Michelin-starred cuisine, Purnell’s in Birmingham sits 6 minutes’ walk from Snow Hill train station. Diners are required to be of smart casual attire.

Exceeded expectations, really enjoyed the evening!

Loved the food, chose the grazing lunchtime menu and could not fault any dish - perfect.
Wine waiter guided us well, we love a glass or two, but being 2 ladies treating ourselves to lunch we did not want to go overboard.
Waiter helped us choose a lovely crisp white which suited our pockets without making us feel awkward, think he deserves praise for this.
My only adverse comment would be about the decor, don't know if you are in the middle of a refurb, but the wallpaper, carpet and banquettes are a very odd combination. Did not spoil the experience for us, but surroundings did not match up to the excellence of the food.

Lovely night. Preferred last 3 courses to first 3. The staff were great in explaining the dishes.
I didn't particularly like the decor and lighting in the dining room.

I booked Purnell's 'Brummie Tapas' for my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary. My wife has longed to eat here and was very pleased we were going at last. The whole experience was even better than we had expected. The food was excellent - lots of tasters that were beautifully cooked and beautifully presented. Each 'course' was presented by a chef who explained briefly and interestingly each element. My wife had the wine flight and again each wine was presented alongside its course with a short explanation from the sommelier. All were good choices which completed the food. We were amazed at the sheer amount of work and preparation that must go into each element of a dish and how each part creates a well balanced complete menu. We would have been disappointed if there had not been some of the sense of theatre and good humour we associate with Glynn Purnell's TV appearance's - it was a fun, enlightening and extremely enjoyable occasion - certainly one we hope we'll be able to repeat again.

Went with some friends. The duck was superb, the service was excellent and it was a brilliant experience tasting the different dishes in such a welcoming setting.
