We chose this as a pre-theatre option as the menu had plenty choice for all, including vegetarian.

In a majestic building steeped in literary history, The Printing Press serves up the best of the Scottish larder, on Edinburgh’s well-heeled George Street. The varied menu is available all day, with a late-night bar serving drinks and bar bites until the early hours.

Hand-picking produce from some of Scotland’s finest suppliers, The Printing Press menu features rustic classics including smoked haggis, puréed neeps and crispy potato, as well as craft ale-battered day boat fish and chips, along with modern Scottish cooking such as spiced duck leg, creamed sweetcorn, pickled Perthshire rhubarb and pomegranate. A range of steak cuts, from grass-fed Tweed Valley Scotch beef, aged for a minimum of 28 days sizzle on the josper grill, all served with chips and a variety of sauces. A children’s menu is also available at The Printing Press in Edinburgh.

Take afternoon tea, where the menu features a variety of classic Scottish sweet treats and indulgences, or be tempted by contemporary desserts such as salted black treacle tart and bramble cheesecake.

Acclaimed chef Colin Fleming heads the kitchen at The Printing Press, bringing a wealth of expertise honed at some of Scotland’s best restaurants. Edinburgh Waverley Station is just a 7-minute walk away.

My Mum, sisters and I enjoyed afternoon tea. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. We weren't rushed and the food was lovely. Look forward to returning for lunch or dinner next time. Would highly recommend to friends.

We arrived a little early for our booking but this was not a problem . The staff were very professional and very helpful .There when you wanted something and not hanging about hoping to upsell when you didn't need them around . The bar , which I could see from where I sat was very well stocked with a variety of drinks and the bar staff never seemed to stop working . We both really enjoyed our meal and would definitely eat there next time we are in Edinburgh .

Excellent service and very nice setting. Felt there could have been more of a choice of sandwiches however as they were limited. One of our group did not like smoked salmon and was only offered ham. Fillings in sandwiches were poor. Cakes and stones were lovely and a good choice available.

Beautiful food. Service friendly but a tiny bit stretched so you had to wait to make eye contact to get someone.

Food was first class. Tables well spaced out, nice cool temperature and service attentive. Definately will revisit. Thought wine a bit over priced. 42 pounds for a bottle of Malbec??

First time visiting and had booked with a friend for Afternoon Tea. As soon as you enter the service was excellent. The Afternoon Tea was delicious with a wonderful selection of savoury and sweet treats. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and elegant but very welcoming and relaxed at the same time. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon

We enjoyed afternnoon tea. We were very well looked after.
There was a nice selection of savories, scones and cakes.
Although the main bar was quite busy the restaurant where we had afternoon tea was very quiet.
