Food was absolutely delicious. The member of staff that served us was lovely - she was attentive and extremely helpful explaining certain items on the menu. Surroundings also perfect for a dinner date for 2.

Creating a wonderful fusion of modern British dishes with strong Italian influences, Porro is a sleek, contemporary setting that celebrates regional ingredients and social dining.

The Porro menu brings together Italian staples with regional recipes – favourites include roasted belly pork with fennel and apple purée, roast squash and salsa verde, and pasta recipes like pappardelle with braised Welsh ox cheek and parmesan. There are dishes perfect for sharing, like Monmouthshire lamb and Herefordshire pork meatball, as well as roasted artichoke, speck de montagne and anchovy pizza.

Carefully sourced wines feature at Porro Cardiff, as well as a selection of beers and ciders. On the Porro dessert menu, there are irresistible sweets like almond, lemon and orange cake with mascarpone, and dark chocolate torte with salted chocolate sauce and hazelnut ice cream.

    Very disappointed with my main course, which was the hake dish. The potato base was greasey and cold, the crab tasteless, the hake overlooked and very rubbery. The meal needed more seasoning as it was bland in the extreme. In addition the portion size of thee hake was pitiful, two bites and all gone. The meal was poor value for money and below standard.

    The staff however were courteous and helpful and very attentive at all times.

    This was the first visit and unfortunately as I base future return visits on my initial experience, I don't think I will return.

    Really nice atmosphere, and the staff were really friendly, overall great dining experience.
    Amazing food too, tortellini to start, steak for my main. Rhubarb meringue for desert. All packed a punch in flavour!

    The food was superb. I was a little surprised that it was so quiet for a thursday lunchtime but really enjoyed eating there.

    A big improvement on service from my last visit. A 19:30 booking it was busy but the waitress explained that and we could take our time choosing our food to give the kitchen time to catch up. Nothing wrong with that, I prefer honesty to the truculant waitress who served us previously denying there was a problem by ignoring us ! But I was slightly underwhelmed by the menu, it needs updating and at least 2 fish options. The starters contain too much bread, sourdough, bruschetta, it's a heavy Carb overload. I would have liked to see, Anchovies or some Prawns or Squid. The main course option has lost the Mussel Linguine which for me was as good as it gets, I opted for the Sea Bream, the fish was well cooked but the Tomato's were in abundance, not fully cooked so watery, leaving a pool on the plate, and I felt the Brocoli brought nothing to the dish, but that is a matter of opinion. Deserts didn't excite me so I opted for a simple Affigato but was shocked the pitifully small portion of Icecream although the Coffee was excellent. So overall better service, food is good but could be better with attention to details and improvement on the variety.........more fish !!

    The food was really nice but, being fans of Prosecco & Sauvignon Blanc, we were disappointed in the quality of both wines & we're glad that we hadn't ordered bottles!
