Wonderful surprise - Pomegranate had been recommended to me so didn't know what to expect. Just amazing. Décor, atmosphere and staff where all stunning. Will definitely be back.

Set in the vibrant city of Edinburgh, Pomegranate restaurant is nestled at the top of Leith Walk. Inspired by the kitchens of the Middle East and North Africa, Pomegranate also offers a secluded decking area to enjoy the relaxing flavours of shisha.

Paying homage to the cuisine of countries like Lebanon and Morocco, the Pomegranate menu offers colourful sharing-style dishes and traditional main courses. Hot and cold mezze dishes include seasoned mince lamb, mixed with sultanas and encased in crushed rice, whilst the mains include succulent chicken breast, marinated in tomatoes and turmeric with a hint of green chilli & parsley.

Drawing on influence from the Middle East, the warm ambience of Pomegranate in Edinburgh is enhanced by vibrant hanging lanterns and cosy Arabic-style cushions. Lounge in the confines of the private terrace, and choose from an array of non-alcoholic wines and beers, or traditional Arabic coffee and cha.

Pomegranate in Leith is only a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Rail Station.

As usual the food was lovely but the service was absolutely abysmal..plenty staff on but only one seemed to know or care about what they were doing and unfortunately he never came near our table..forgot we had ordered a drink..took further 10 minutes to bring them to us..asked for dessert menu..35 minutes later..despite asking 3 different staff and having been told in a second our order was taken..20 minutes later it was brought to table..it was ice cream!!!!!..how long does that take!..same fiasco waiting for bill..both my husband ,who was furious by this time had to ask for it..took ages to come then again had to ask 3 different people for card machine..as we had to leave for theatre eventually we took cash up to the counter where guy then began to look for cash machine..needless to say no tip and hubby usually very generous in that department..sat down at 1715 left at 1940..had a drink a wrap and an ice cream in all that time..poor poor!!

Was very busy on Friday evening so took a while to get served and one of the starters was the wrong thing. But once it all arrived correctly the food was really tasty. Humous with lamb went down well and the baba ganoush and veg kebab were lovely. Rice was fab too, but the salty yoghurt drink was less popular.

Restaurant colourful and staff very attentive. All dishes chosen tasty but liked the meatballs best, flavour very different from other countries.

Food was lovely, Qozy chicken very good. Decor is bright and cheerful. Service quick and friendly, although for a Sunday lunchtime I was surprised how quiet it was. We were alone in our section of the restaurant which meant there was little atmosphere.

Selection of five mezzo were ample for two and was recommended by waiter as being cheaper than individual choices.

Food was brilliant as always - the stand out for me is always the tips, especially the Baba Ganoush and the Tapenade. I got my Baba fix by having the one with strips of Shwarma on top. Service was prompt and polite, BUT. My friend ordered icecream with pomegranate sauce (the sauce was what she really wanted) got icecream with no sauce to be told they didn't have any which was pretty poor, she should have been told when she ordered. I'd let that go as a mistake if I hadn't been outright lied to. My pudding was Turkish delight with icecream and last time I had it, it was a kind of harder Turkish delight with pistachios which was amazing. This time it was plain Turkish delight so I asked about it and was told they didn't have any of the pistachio - again, that's fine. But as I was leaving I noticed a big cake dome on the bar, full of the pistachio one! The man behind the bar noticed me looking and insisted we both took some which was lovely. But I really don't appreciate being lied to about it.
