Great restaurant, lovely bright colours with beautiful middle eastern lanterns. It really looks the part. Food is delicious and service with a smile.

Set in the vibrant city of Edinburgh, Pomegranate restaurant is nestled at the top of Leith Walk. Inspired by the kitchens of the Middle East and North Africa, Pomegranate also offers a secluded decking area to enjoy the relaxing flavours of shisha.

Paying homage to the cuisine of countries like Lebanon and Morocco, the Pomegranate menu offers colourful sharing-style dishes and traditional main courses. Hot and cold mezze dishes include seasoned mince lamb, mixed with sultanas and encased in crushed rice, whilst the mains include succulent chicken breast, marinated in tomatoes and turmeric with a hint of green chilli & parsley.

Drawing on influence from the Middle East, the warm ambience of Pomegranate in Edinburgh is enhanced by vibrant hanging lanterns and cosy Arabic-style cushions. Lounge in the confines of the private terrace, and choose from an array of non-alcoholic wines and beers, or traditional Arabic coffee and cha.

Pomegranate in Leith is only a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Rail Station.

Food was brilliant as always - the stand out for me is always the tips, especially the Baba Ganoush and the Tapenade. I got my Baba fix by having the one with strips of Shwarma on top. Service was prompt and polite, BUT. My friend ordered icecream with pomegranate sauce (the sauce was what she really wanted) got icecream with no sauce to be told they didn't have any which was pretty poor, she should have been told when she ordered. I'd let that go as a mistake if I hadn't been outright lied to. My pudding was Turkish delight with icecream and last time I had it, it was a kind of harder Turkish delight with pistachios which was amazing. This time it was plain Turkish delight so I asked about it and was told they didn't have any of the pistachio - again, that's fine. But as I was leaving I noticed a big cake dome on the bar, full of the pistachio one! The man behind the bar noticed me looking and insisted we both took some which was lovely. But I really don't appreciate being lied to about it.

Very relaxed atmosphere, friendly , helpful staff , exciting menu with plenty choice and the waitress helped us with our choice. We had tapas, so it was nice to taste a selection of foods. The nan bread is amazing, very light so not to filling . Great on the budget to be able to take a bottle of champagne to celebrate.

EXCELLENT food, middle eastern "tapas" at it's best! BYOB with a minimum 30p charge for recycling and a great Syrian Refugee scheme to donate £1 per head but optional...
