Set in the vibrant city of Edinburgh, Pomegranate restaurant is nestled at the top of Leith Walk. Inspired by the kitchens of the Middle East and North Africa, Pomegranate also offers a secluded decking area to enjoy the relaxing flavours of shisha.
Paying homage to the cuisine of countries like Lebanon and Morocco, the Pomegranate menu offers colourful sharing-style dishes and traditional main courses. Hot and cold mezze dishes include seasoned mince lamb, mixed with sultanas and encased in crushed rice, whilst the mains include succulent chicken breast, marinated in tomatoes and turmeric with a hint of green chilli & parsley.
Drawing on influence from the Middle East, the warm ambience of Pomegranate in Edinburgh is enhanced by vibrant hanging lanterns and cosy Arabic-style cushions. Lounge in the confines of the private terrace, and choose from an array of non-alcoholic wines and beers, or traditional Arabic coffee and cha.
Pomegranate in Leith is only a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Rail Station.

Pomegranate was always a favourite for us eating at before attending a show at the Edinburgh Playhouse. We hadn't been to Pomegranate for a while and last night we discovered the shine has really gone out of the place. Still prettily decorated but at 5:30 main restaurant was virtually empty, despite booking online where the only option was a table at that time as according to the booking system they were fully booked the rest of the evening. Staff were all friendly but seemed a lot of them on shift with little to do so there was a lot hanging around.
Menu doesn't change, but the prices have seriously been hiked up. We both ordered Chicken Shawarma Wraps and friend ordered two meze, she was pleased and said flavours were nice, but at £6:95 for three pieces of grilled haloumi and two meatballs that's mighty steep.
Our wraps came on a small silver ashet serving dish, not a plate a serving dish, I'm not a fan of the current trend for presenting food on all sorts of ridiculous platters, boards etc or silver ashets for serving! I was a bit surprised as it used to also come with a bowl of spicy ocra tomato dip, but no more, salad was mostly leaves and one olive, when I cut into the wrap all I could see was masses of shredded lettuce, wading through to the chicken it was dry and tasteless but not much of it, the whole thing was bland and uninspired, only flavour kick came from the two dips, spicy and cool. I had a piece of friends nan bread which was thin and hard.
Three main courses, two soft drinks and three glasses of free table water, bill came to just under £45. However Pomegranate must be commended for supporting the Syrian refugees by currently having an option of £1 donation added to the bill for every diner to provide food to the heartbreaking cause, we happy to agree and also added to the collection tin at the bar.
Once was a lovely place with tasty. mouthwatering food, that has all gone bland and terribly overpriced, we decided on leaving we won't return.

We ordered 9 starter dishes between the 3 of us, and all of us enjoyed every dish! The lunch was a good balance of 3 meat dishes and 6 vegetarian.
The service was very friendly and efficient, and being able to bring our own wines was an attractive bonus!
The ethos of the restaurant was attractive, open and bright. We all enjoyed the experience very much.
