From acclaimed restaurateur Russell Norman, POLPO Covent Garden serves up signature Venetian small plates, alongside prosecco, spritz and wine from the bar. Rustic stone walls and barside seating make for a laidback but elegant setting for Italian-style drinking and dining.

Reminiscent of Venice’s charming backstreet restaurants, POLPO London specialises in Italian small plates and signature spritzers. Hand-rolled meatballs, freshly-stretched pizzettes and colourful salads head up the POLPO menu, and favourite creations include cuttlefish & squid ink risotto with gremolata, or pork jelly with apricot and sage. For dessert, culinary innovations include Campari panna cotta, or ricotta doughnuts with cinnamon sugar.

POLPO in Covent Garden also serves an artisan brunch menu, with breakfast cocktails, pastries and fresh juices served alongside dishes like nutritious scafata with poached eggs, and sourdough with wild garlic, mushrooms and ricotta. Accompanying a selective wine list is a list of classic POLPO cocktails.

Find POLPO tucked away behind the Strand, a short walk from Covent Garden Tube Station.

Rustic ambiance that suited the menu. The food was excellent and the service was good enough.

    Hi

But we were booked for 1330 not 1300 as stated in the diary- good job we arrived early. But it was good. The food as usual was exellent - although some dishes were over salty. The beef was melt in the mouth.

Being of mature years we were given high stools which I was not happy with - and there were lots of empty tables. So I do not know why were were on high stools

Although I appreciate how lighting creates atmosphere , the lack of light made it hard to read the menu- perhaps slightly larger candles.

    Otherwise fine.

Food excellent. Waiters excellent, tho' no apology received for having to remind them twice about one dish ordered but not delivered, and then it was delivered at the end of the meal! Nevertheless we paid the 12.5% tip because service was otherwise very good.

We booked a table for six people on a Saturday lunchtime and have to say that this was the perfect place to catch up with good food wine and a laid back atmosphere. The restaurant has a modern chic decor and there was a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and there was just the right amount of time between dishes so you weren't overwhelmed with everything at once. The crab linguine and slow pork were unbelievable.

We had a lovely lunch at Polpo. The Frito misto was very good and was one of the reasons for choosing this particular restaurant.

Delicious small plates of food, with friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere - and very good value.

Wonderful lunch with a friend pre-theatre. Great friendly service & amazing food. My second visit to Polpo, can't wait to go again. All dishes were lovely but I highly recommend the arancini cicchetti which were so tasty we ordered more! Great sharing plates, every one of ours went back empty. A sure sign of good food!
