Immersed in the well-heeled bustle of Duke of York Square, POLPO Chelsea serves rustic Venetian cuisine. Offsetting the cosy dining room with its bare brickwork and naked lightbulbs, there is an expansive parasol-covered al fresco area.

Reminiscent of Venice’s charming backstreet restaurants, POLPO specialises in Italian small plates and signature spritzers. Hand-rolled meatballs, freshly-stretched pizzettes and colourful salads head up the POLPO menu, and favourite creations include cuttlefish & squid ink risotto with gremolata, or pork jelly with apricot and sage. For dessert, culinary innovations include Campari panna cotta, or ricotta doughnuts with cinnamon sugar.

POLPO in Chelsea also serves an artisan brunch menu, with breakfast cocktails, pastries and fresh juices served alongside dishes like nutritious scafata with poached eggs, and sourdough with wild garlic, mushrooms and ricotta. Accompanying a selective wine list is a list of classic POLPO cocktails.

Bringing the charm of Venice to London, POLPO restaurant is a 3-minute walk from Sloane Square Tube Station.

The food was great but I was disappointed in the service. The waiter was a bit superior in his attitude several times - not impressed!

I think the days are gone where people are prepared to put up with snotty waiters. Even the staff on the door were cool and unfriendly.

I would recommend this restaurant for the food but not the service.

We got off to a bad start as we were 10 minutes late and they had already given our table away: we were told that they do this after five minutes unless they hear from the customer. That seems a little brutal to me: most places hold your table for 15 minutes if you're delayed. However, we were seated at a table within another 10 minutes, and after that everything was fine. Food and service were both of a high standard. We ordered 4 dishes between two and just about had room left for a pudding.

Sat outside on slightly drizzly day. Chairs and tables a bit damp! Service friendly and we weren't rushed. Had pizzette with anchovies, delicious courgette salad and pork and fennel meatballs with pasta. All delicious but crab linguine had gone cold by the time we ate it. Possibly one dish too many for two as we couldn't finish everything.
