A bijou hideaway in the heart of the city, POLPO Brighton is a laidback, rustic Italian restaurant. And open frontage in warmer weather and pavement tables evoke a continental feel, while the interior has a trendy, reclaimed feel.

Reminiscent of Venice’s charming backstreet restaurants, POLPO specialises in Italian small plates and signature spritzers. Hand-rolled meatballs, freshly-stretched pizzettes and colourful salads head up the POLPO menu, and favourite creations include cuttlefish & squid ink risotto with gremolata, or pork jelly with apricot and sage. For dessert, culinary innovations include Campari panna cotta, or ricotta doughnuts with cinnamon sugar.

POLPO in Brighton also serves an artisan brunch menu, with breakfast cocktails, pastries and fresh juices served alongside dishes like nutritious scafata with poached eggs, and sourdough with wild garlic, mushrooms and ricotta. Accompanying a selective wine list is a list of classic POLPO cocktails.

A favourite neighbourhood restaurant, the Brighton POLPO is an 11-minute walk from Brighton Train Station.

I had a meal on Saturday lunchtime with 4 girlfriends. The atmosphere is ver
italian, gentle hubbub and I loved the hankies over the lightshade's. Reminds me of summers spent with my Nonna in Veneto. Delicious food and reasonably priced. Will be back for more!

Lovely service. Very attentive & good waiter. Explained the menu. Food really tasty. Good choice of wine, although a little expensive for me. There was a slight mix up on the order in that 1 of my friends had to wait ages for her first dish whilst we were already on our 2nd or 3rd. We had to remind them. Also, my other friend ordered two dishes. The first arrived really quickly, the second, again we had to ask as it wasn't served. Also, problem with the kitchen. Not sure what was being burnt, but the restaurant filled with smoke & all of our clothes had the smell on them. However, apart from that, I will visit again & I will recommend to other friends.

Fantastic dining experience. Best arranchini and meatballs I've ever tasted outside of Italy. Great service and very friendly staff. The deserts cannot be missed either - the Panna Cotta and ricotta donuts are excellent! We have taken different friends there and everyone comments on the good and atmosphere. The team have hit everything right and couldn't do anything more to make the whole experience five star.

Generally good experience. Nice staff, prompt and friendly. We like the little dishes idea, especially for lunch. Frito misto excellent, salmon good, arancini ok (though rather bland), kale pesto on gnocchi was trendy rather than tasty, pizzetta (wild boar one) divided us. Husband liked it, I thought meat was too chewy tho we both liked trompette de morte. Polenta just too much to finish tho husband thought it over salted (by parmesan?). Aglianico red wine excellent and espresso coffee one of the best outside Italy! We both thought he wall tiles are stunningly ugly I'm afraid Pity there's not much natural light in the location.
