Customer reviews for Plateau
((((( 15 November 2014 by Fiona Wright from London
Four of us went for lunch at Plateau, taking advantage of their £25 for three courses deal. Great value. Starters, terrine or salt cod brandade were both delicious and well presented We all had mushroom risotto for mains, though could have chosen slow roast rib (£5 supplement) or hake. The risotto was the weakest course, but still acceptableWe all had a wonderful panna cotta for dessert served with citrus fruits and a mint dressing. Service throughout was friendly and efficient. The restaurant has a great view over Canary Wharf, and at this time of year, the ice rink. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch.

Booked this restaurant for New Years Eve dinner with my wife. Seemed decent value for money [$] Furthermore the location is excellent and the decor was very good. We arrived on time and were asked to wait in the bar area. We ordered a drink and waited 45 minutes for our table. We were annoyed when the waiter said we should have said we wanted to go to our table! I explained that it is customary for us to be led to our table when it is ready. When we sat at our table which was in a great location we were not given a napkin and had to ask for one! In addition, we were not given any information about the wine list and had to ask the bread waiter to get the sommelier. There were long intervals before our water and wine glasses were refilled. [...] The food was decent with good portions but not outstanding. What annoyed us was that different people kept coming over to us with different bills explaining that they had forgotten to charge us for various items. It appeared that they had charged other tables for items that they had not ordered too. We were obviously happy to pay for what we ordered but clearly the bill could have been handled more professionally. It did not seem reasonable to charge a 12.5% service charge for frankly substandard service when Michelin starred restaurants charge the same percentage and offer a far more professional service. We spoke to the manager who refunded a portion of the service charge but really the entire service charge should have been refunded. Although it was New Years Eve, the restaurant was not overly busy and so this should not be an excuse.
