Slow and painful experience.
We arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before 6, we had booked a table for 3 at 6pm (on a Thursday evening in Upminster).
We were greeted at the door and asked if we had booked, I said yes and the host walked off to check the computer. A second host then approached us and asked if we had booked, we explained we had and someone was already checking for us. (This double greeting and questioning continued for everyone in the queue). He too went over to the computer. The first host returned to say I was not on the system and asked if I had booked it under another name, I got out my phone to show the email confirmation for booking. I was told I'd have to wait a few minutes for them to clear a table. These few minutes turned into 10 and people after me who had not booked were seated before me even though they were a party of the same size! In fact they were offered a choice of table...leaving us to be seated next to the toilets.
Service was extremely quick to start, in fact too quick, we were handed menus by a waiter and asked for drinks orders by a waitress standing next to him. With 2 children you need a few minutes to remove coats, sit down and decide - I opted for an appletizer over wine as I felt pushed and didn't have a chance to look at the drinks menu. Drinks came quick and food orders taken when the drinks arrived...then things went downhill. Service was slow & the food was average - lack of cheese on pizzas & bones in anchovies. We waited 40 minutes for our main course after the starters were cleared. Desserts were ordered when the mains were cleared & we didn't have to wait too long. But the bill took forever to arrive...We were sitting with our coats on waiting to leave before the bill arrived.
In total we were in the restaurant 1 hour 45 minutes...All we had was 2 children's meals & 1 adult pizza! What a long a painful experience, fortunately the children were enjoying the colouring in & puzzles on the children's menus!

Good atmosphere and good food, but not need more staff as the restaurant was full. Each time we called a waiter, we had to wait a while to be served. Good value for money, although a glass of wine is very expensive. The bill was also incorrect, which had to be amended.
