Found within a London hotel that dates back as far as 1836, Petrichor at The Cavendish London serves contemporary British cuisine and a great value pre-theatre menu. Overlooking the exclusive boutiques and galleries of Jermyn Street, St. James's and Piccadilly, Petrichor is found on the 1st floor of the Cavendish London hotel.

Championing a commitment to serving premium ingredients, Petrichor London sources from local farmers and producers to create monthly-changing menus of delicious modern British cuisine. Head Chef Glen Padiyar blends hearty, home-cooked flavours and unique culinary flair, with Petrichor menu favourites including rich pigeon and venison terrine with elderflower jelly, or sustainable fish pie with smoked cod loin, shrimps and boiled quail eggs.

Rich, autumnal flavours for dessert include panettone bread & butter pudding with drambuie custard, or mulled wine-poached pear with cinnamon mascarpone. An accomplished wine list at Petrichor Green Park showcases fine vintages, alongside an exclusive selection from the Chapel Down winery in Kent.

Capturing the essence of nature through the setting and cuisine, Petrichor restaurant is set in the deluxe surroundings of The Cavenish Hotel. Green Park Tube Station is a 5-minute walk away.

Good, food was good and service from head waiters Amanda was exceptional.
Pity there are building works currently being undertaken opposite the hotel did spoil the view and ambiance of the occation.

A hidden underused gem in St James, Petrichor at The Cavendish unfailingly delivers. A set price lunch, served in an airy, naturally well lit environment, by staff who are professional, focussed and know their menu well. Some restaurants are of quality and deliver a great range of well prepared and served food. Petrichor and the staff there deliver all of that - with an engaging warmth and character and individuality.

Excellent 3 course meal, enjoyed tasty well presented starters, then generous chicken and cod main courses. Good selection of sweets and ice cream plus a glass of Prosecco rounded off a good value set menu.

My dinner guests chose the fixed price menu, which came with a generous glass of fizz. The choices available were a pleasant surprise, given that fixed meus can at times be rather limited; on this occasion the mouth watering food was beautifully presented. Its also worth mentioning we were not in any respect galloped through the courses; sadly a byproduct of the profit margin in too many restaurants of late is the desire to get diners in and out as fast as possible so the table can be rehired for a second sitting. Fine dining at the speed of a fast food chain is no fun! Petrichor at the Cavendish was fun!

The exterior of the hotel building itself is a brick tower with a down turned mouth; the sort of design that makes you wonder how it ever got planning permission? That said the interior comes into its own; a modernist take on the retro look. Its an enjoyable fusion of 1960's chic; think veneered drinks cabinets, lava lamps and the office of M in the early James Bond movies. Miss Money- Penny would definitely dine here!
