We had booked for afternoon tea. However the food took half an hour to arrive to the table. Then, after two requests for hot water and lemon to go with my Earl Gray tea we each were served glasses of water with a slice of lemon in them. The scones were due to arrive once we had eaten the sandwiches but in the end we ate everything and still had to wait for the scones. My gluten free scones were dreadful. I complained when I was paying the bill and, after consultation with the manager, they waived the service charge _ which I was not really inclined to pay anyway.
On the plus side, it was good that they had made an effort to produce a child's afternoon tea and a gluten-free one.
Nevertheless this was a very disappointing experience.

The high tea set had a good variety of savoury and sweet pastries. The scones were quite nice. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

We were celebrating my friend's 80th birthday and found your Afternoon Tea experience excellent. All the staff were very attentive.

Afternoon Tea at the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh.
Ignored by the three doormen as we entered. We actually had to walk round them! Where was the warm Scottish welcome?
(Would have reported this to the front desk but a large bus tour arrived and were checking in.)
Tea itself disappointing overall. Waiting staff not there when we arrived in this large room and this left us uncertain on where to go.
Roast beef sandwich really just fat and there were no wraps or smoked salmon. Some pastries too creamy and also tasteless. The hit was the peanut butter brownie which was very good. In general, much less spectacular than was indicated on the website.
Had Afternoon Tea at other Waldorf Hotels and experience is much better. Also nearby in the Sheraton, the Balmoral and at Gleneagles so we have some experience to offer.
We knew there was a discretionary 10% but in fact had no choice about this when the bill came. Also they failed to recognise that we had booked on the 25% discount offer.

We had afternoon tea which was great. There was so much food and we couldn't manage everything so were thankful for the doggy bag! I felt the brownies were a bit too heavy. From a personal stand I would have preferred more of a balance of sweet and savoury. It was good to get as much tea as you wanted and to try different ones.overall, lovely with very attentive staff.

More imagination for vegetarians, chicken on a sandwich requires an option of dressings and salad accompaniment, far to many rich cakes based on chocolate, scones were A1 and well presented choice of tea's, service, ambulance, setting, attention to the customer's all superbe, but let down by the cakes and sandwiches as above.

Enjoyable but enjoyed it better on the previous visit. Asked if we had vouchers. Why can the price not be the same for everyone! !
