Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, quite busy with people having afternoon tea. Other diners meals looked really tasty and the cakes were to die for.

Good range of sandwich, cakes and scones. Good ambiance and level of service. Booking was easy, and redeeming of voucher was no problem.

The table was ready on arrival and the staff were friendly. There were 3 of us having afternoon tea and we were given 2 x 3 tier plates. However there weren't 3 of everything - only 2 smoked salmon sandwiches, 2 cucumber sandwiches and only 2 chocolate cakes, 2 red mousse cakes and 2 carrot cakes although there were 8 scones!

We were given a table that was en route to the toilets so not ideal. The general feel was that they need to upgrade the furniture which was rather dowdy.

Overall the tea was ok and the macaroons we had to take away were lovely. I wouldn't book this again.

This was a pre-booked Afternoon Tea for four adults. Started off positive as the waiter had our details on his list. However, things then started going downhill. PV in Chester is looking a little tired; the crockery at our table was chipped to glory and dirty. When our drinks first arrived, before my cappuccino managed to reach the table, it, together with coke for my sons ended up inside the teapot for my wife, and was splayed all over the table and down my trousers. But accidents do happen and I calmly went to the toilets to sponge my WHITE jeans down. When replacement drinks were served, the glasses for my sons' cokes were sent back because they were dirty; maybe the dishwasher needs replacing? We were emphatically advised by the waitress that we would not be charged for the cokes (we were actually hoping for some discount in any case as our lads were not having hot drinks as per the menu). My cappuccino this time looked fine, but was rather tepid in temperature when I drank it, but I suffered it for fear of receiving another drowning. When the food arrived, we immediately noticed an unevenness between the two stands and when we pointed this out, the waitress apologised and eventually brought out a small quiche that she advised again would not be charged(why should it??); we cut it in half to share between the lads. The sandwiches on both stands were crusty and had obviously NOT been made freshly. Ambience in the café (sorry, it isn't a restaurant) was getting VERY LOUD by this time. We took what cakes were left uneaten in a doggy bag, and went to the till to pay, prompting the server whether the bonus boxes of macaroons (in the deal booked) were being offered to us. After checking with the head waiter (he had crumpled up our booking reference and realised that this was part of our deal) we received the macaroons, and were still expected to pay FULL PRICE. We asked whether the price was right and they offered a "discretionary" £5 reduction ("store limit"). Laugh.

Cream tea. The cream did not arrive, no knives were given to us and another thing was forgotten in our service as well. The food was ver y good however
