We went here on Mother's Day so was quite busy. We were cramped onto a table with not much room behind us to move our chair. Had to wait 40 minutes to get our food. Waiter was very helpful.

A charming bohemian-style café in the heart of the town, Patisserie Valerie Bury St Edmunds draws guests inside with its jaw-dropping window display of cakes and pastries. Scarlet leather banquettes and polished bistro furnishings are offset by a gallery of Art Nouveau-style paintings.

Established back in 1926 in the West End of London, Patisserie Valerie is known for its range of impeccably-crafted baked goods. Guests can enjoy signature patisserie served throughout the day, as well as breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas, and fine coffee. Choose from menu favourites like quiche, smoked salmon salad or lasagne, as well as gourmet sandwiches with fillings including the tuna club melt, or prosciutto with artichoke & mascarpone.

The pastry counter at Patisserie Valerie displays spectacular hand-crafted celebration cakes, and an artful array of sweet treats. Choose from gateaux, cheesecakes and fruit tarts, plus traditional scones with jam & cream and gluten-free brownies.

Found on the edge of Abbey Gardens, Patisserie Valerie café sits 15 minutes’ walk from Bury St Edmunds Train Station.

We had afternoon tea for 2 (£25). I'd booked the table online and was sent a 10% off voucher which made it even better value. They kindly seated us even though we arrived about 20 minutes before our time. The waiting staff were very pleasant and helpful, and were happy to provide more cream when asked. Tea was unlimited, and the sandwiches and cakes were delicious. You can have different drinks with the afternoon tea but I don't know if these would be unlimited. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea and would highly recommend it.

I felt our food had been hanging around for quite a while before it came to the table. The sandwiches were very dry. The staff seemed too busy to actually take the time to be attentive to the customer's needs. Many people stood inside waiting to be seated were ignored walked away. The coffee was excellent.

On the basis of the cakes on display thought afternoon tea would be pleasant but on the whole was poor. The Restaurant lacked ambiance partly due to it being quiet but could have played some background music to break the deadly silence. But main issue was poor value and soggy pastries that had been in fridge for some time. Would have been one star but waitress gave us a cake each from front of shop to take away which were delicious.

Table was booked for 3pm beacuase we had another appointmen,. Over half an hour passed before we had to ask if we could order, and a further 10 mins before our tea arrived . Food ok , but cream was runny and warm . One waitress admitted to me she was "so stressed" .not a brilliant experience will not go back.I had been given a voucher for tea for two for my birthday .......disappointed.

I booked an Afternoon tea for three about a month before we went. On arrival our table was not ready, we sat down and were brought our tea on single plates. We were expecting our sandwiches scones etc to come out on a proper three tier cake stand. When we asked why we didn't have this the waiter replied,we only have 3 of these in the shop. I find this a very disappointing especially when the whole experience of an afternoon tea is it being presented properly. The waiter did say if we were prepared to wait, one of the cake stands would become available, so we waited. The waiter was very apologetic and we said it wasn't his fault. I do think that you aught to supply your shops with plenty of cake stands especially when you are advertising afternoon teas. It's a shame because our experience could have been so much better.

Food was good, service not so. Tea and coffee were bottomless, but no one to ask for refills, then when we did ask it didn't arrive!!

Lovely afternoon tea. We arrived and the table we chose had recently been vacated so needed cleaning but that was quickly done. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful finding another cup when my mother overmilked her cup and replacing jam flavours to our favourites!
