What a delightful experience. How sad that an American has bought the land and is building another hotel on the site.

Nestled in a converted orchid warehouse, Orso – Covent Garden presents a chic, bistro-style retreat. With sleek wood furnishings and pale terracotta walls, the dining room evokes the charm of 1950s Milan.

With a long established reputation for superb Italian cuisine in Covent Garden, the Orso menu offers lovingly-crafted, traditional cuisine, whilst incorporating an exciting twist. Quality, regionally-sourced ingredients are used to create tempting dishes, like roast Tuscan sausage with braised black cabbage, or fresh penne pasta with wilted spinach and gorgonzola.

Within a vibrant area of London, Orso restaurant offers a comfortable atmosphere which is perfect for a leisurely meal, and diners can unwind with a glass from the fine range of well-balanced wines. To round things off, the dessert menu is filled with indulgent delights, like flourless chocolate cake with mascarpone, or pear and caramel tart.

In a quaint setting, Orso Covent Garden is just 6 minutes’ walk from Covent Garden Tube Station, and 2 minutes from the Lyceum Theatre.

Certainly a great option for pre theater dining. Quick and friendly service and good quality food.

Charming staff and, unusually, even though it's located in a basement, it really doesn't feel like it when you're there, due to the clever lighting. A sensibly limited menu makes for good, tasty rustic Italian dishes which are not over-fussy and sensibly priced. Good value wine list too and great for pre and post theatre. Very good indeed.

Although it was very busy, very good atmosphere and attentive staff. Good quality food and reasonable prices for London. Went there for a pre-theatre supper and timings were fine - not rushed but good pace by the serving staff.

Orso has long been a favourite dining experience of mine. I now live in Europe so don't get the chance to dine there very often. I took my son last night and was struck by the garish sign over the door ( instead of the discreet brass tag on the door) and on entering found it to feel less authentic and special than when last there. The menu has changed and has less high quality original Italian dishes than before. I ordered the Calamari frites and it arrived too quickly to be made from scratch. My Fegato was good but not very much liver. The wine list is also much less interesting than it used to be. Food was okay as was service but it feels like a more average Italian Diner that the special place it was.

Fab restaurant with exceptional service. We were running very late for the theatre and couldn't have been more helpful... oh yes, and the food (especially the risotto) was excellent. The tables were not too close together so easy to have a private conversation,
