Nestled in a converted orchid warehouse, Orso – Covent Garden presents a chic, bistro-style retreat. With sleek wood furnishings and pale terracotta walls, the dining room evokes the charm of 1950s Milan.

With a long established reputation for superb Italian cuisine in Covent Garden, the Orso menu offers lovingly-crafted, traditional cuisine, whilst incorporating an exciting twist. Quality, regionally-sourced ingredients are used to create tempting dishes, like roast Tuscan sausage with braised black cabbage, or fresh penne pasta with wilted spinach and gorgonzola.

Within a vibrant area of London, Orso restaurant offers a comfortable atmosphere which is perfect for a leisurely meal, and diners can unwind with a glass from the fine range of well-balanced wines. To round things off, the dessert menu is filled with indulgent delights, like flourless chocolate cake with mascarpone, or pear and caramel tart.

In a quaint setting, Orso Covent Garden is just 6 minutes’ walk from Covent Garden Tube Station, and 2 minutes from the Lyceum Theatre.

Excellent meal! Great value- 3 courses with Prosecco for £24. All freshly cooked for us & very tasty. Portion size very good & presented well. Waiting staff attentive but not over the top.
Restaurant was quiet but it was only 5.30 on a Sunday & there was still a pleasant atmosphere due to the decor & music. This lovely Italian is perfectly situated for theatres.

Nice quiet restaurant, no music so could hear each other to talk!

I met some girl friends for a leisurely lunch on Friday. We have been to Orso many times and find its a good place to talk as it's never too noisy at lunchtime. It was very quiet yesterday, but it was an awful day, weather wise, raining solidly.
We booked on an offer of three courses and a Prosecco spritzer. The glasses of Spritzer were minuscule and although the food was good it was very average. We all had calamari with lemon mayonnaise to start, which was lovely but nothing special, then two of us had chicken and the other had fish. Again whilst there was nothing wrong with the food, although I did feel one piece of my chicken was very slightly undercooked, neither was the food exceptional. We then followed with Tiramisu which although pleasant was certainly not the best I've ever tasted.
We all love our food and if something is worthy we will stop talking and saviour it and at no stage did the food halt our conversation!
The service however was exactly right. We were left alone to talk without lots of interruptions but never left for so long that we were searching for a waiter.
I do feel that Orso need to up their game slightly as there is so much competition in and around Covent Garden that they need to give more value for money.
All in all it was a pleasant meal, nothing more.

My reason for going back to Orso after almost 25 years was because this was where I had courted my wife. My recollection was that it was a bit more glam then, a hang out for actors. The nice thing is that nothing much has changed in terms of decor, ambience and service although the impression was it is more relient on the tourist industry .. but this was a quiet July summer evening. The special menu was good value, calimari to start, sea bass and tiramasu. The last time I was there, my (soon to be) wife fainted, this time she remained conscious!

Enjoyed starter of calamari and prawn course, however I chose lamb skewers which were a bit fatty and would not have them again. My friends were happy with their choice of salmon and calf liver. Dessert of pavlova was a bit chewy and tough and not soft which is what pavlova means to me. Ricotta cheesecake was chosen by my friend who loved it.
