An ultra-modern hideaway on Festival Square, One Square showcases modern British cuisine and forward-thinking design. A canopy-sheltered terrace overlooks Edinburgh landmarks, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame panoramic views beyond.

Wholesome, seasonal offerings on the One Square menu mix classically comforting recipes and creative signature dishes. Savour herb-crusted Pollock with duck fat potatoes or venison wellington with red cabbage and wild mushrooms, and a warming apple charlotte with cider & caramel ice cream for dessert.

A member of the elite Tea Guild, traditional afternoon teas are weaved with exciting twists, like zingy raspberry & lychee macarons, orange and angelica scones from the in-house bakery, or a bespoke gin cocktail – of which over 40 varieties are found at the bar. Deliciously fresh continental and Scottish breakfasts are also offered at One Square restaurant.

A modern take on the classic grand cafe, One Square is a fashionable restaurant in Edinburgh. The metropolitan bustle of Princes Street is 5 minutes’ walk away.

I was with a friend for afternoon tea on 18/3. Staff noted it was her birthday and said 'see what we can do' Well she was given a long white plate with Happy Birthday written on it, with one end half a strawberry and the other end a kumquat and that was it, nothing but a large white plate in the middle - it was actually quite embarassing. I would have though she could have been offered a glass of wine or something. The afternoon tea itself was disappointing. The items were very small, and we thought it poor for the cost of £40. I have taken afternoon tea at the Dome and Waldorf in Edinburgh both roughly the same cost and was pleased with the selection and portions. I would return to both these venues and would recommend them. I would not recommend the Sheraton.

As this was the first time we had been to this restaurant we were more than pleasantly surprised. Why had we not been here before? Friendly smiling staff on our arrival with friendly smiling and knowledgeable waiting staff answering all our questions regarding our choices from the A La Carte menu and wine list. The quality of the food we chose for all three courses was excellent. We both had Oxtail Broth for starter, one Hake and one Duck for mains and then we shared three desserts: Salted Caramel Mousse, Plum Tart and an Apple dish. We found it difficult to say what was the best course as we could find no fault in any of them as the combination of flavours and textures, as far as we were concerned, was very good but oh boy .... those desserts were absolutely scrumptious.
