It was our first time here. It was a nice, relaxed and a very pleasant atmosphere. Really enjoyed being there. The service was a bit slow for the drinks! but other than that everything else was perfect.

We went for afternoon tea. The sevice was good and drinks were good however the dessert selection for afternoon was limited and dry. Was slightly disappointed however the venue itself was nice and we enjoyed ourselves. Been there for food and would recommend the food if not the desserts.

. The whole experience on the day was lovely , everything on the afternoon tea which was served , was good , the bread on the sandwiches was slightly dry as if they had been made and possibly not covered up until served , but not enough to complain about , and the cakes were delicious , the staff very attentive and in whole the experience was most enjoyable

A lovely way to spend an afternoon, relaxed atmosphere, good service and decor which added to the character and experience unique in this part of town (and I can't think of too many equals further afield in Manchester). Most importantly, the food was spot on. We'd love to come back soon.

We had afternoon tea, the food was more than I expected, and tasty with it. We had a very relaxed 2 hours experience, and enjoyed every minute of it.

This experience was an unmitigated disaster. On arrival there was no-one at the reception desk ( this is some kind of private club?), so my friend, whose birthday treat it was, and I, went through to find someone to attend to us. A young woman on the bar, when we said we had arrived for our afternoon tea said, "Your'e late, aren't you?"; we were exactly on time ( 6.00pm)! She then asked us to "wait a minute" and disappeared. After a minute or so, in which time we had looked around our surroundings, ( very gloomy, the view from the windows covered by net curtains, and nowhere obviously to sit to eat), we were asked to come into a small room off the main area, which was like a glass box without a door, same curtains over the windows; whole place lacking in ambience, and offered tea or coffee. This never arrived, as a few more minutes later, another young woman, who announced herself only as Alishea came in to say that had a problem. She said the whole place was booked for a private function that evening. I commented that an afternoon tea was hardly a difficult thing to provide, but she went on to say she had tried to ring my home number twice that day and had left a message suggesting we came in earlier instead. As I had been at home all day until coming out to go to On the 7th, I knew this to be untrue, and on re-checking on return that night, I found no message. She went to get my booking and showed the number she had phoned. It was correct, so she had either not done what she claimed or had been misdialling.
We were told that there was nothing could be done. I said I wanted my money back, forgetting this was only a booking through Bookatable. She then said maybe they could manage something. We said we had no desire to stay. i was particularly annoyed that someone should leave simply a message on the day of the appointment (made on 9.9.14). We were offered vouchers. We declined and left. We had a very nice meal at a nearby restaurant.
