The first Olivo to be opened back in November 1997, Olivo - Guildford is set in a building believed to be a late Elizabethan timber-framed house, dating back to the early 1660s. The current Restaurant Manager is Mr. Paolo Ditale, whose passion for food, service and detail has inspired an amazing menu and a superb style of service. Olivo's cuisine is based on three basic principles: Traditional Italian methods, modern interpretation and the use of quality raw ingredients. It is traditional Italian because the staff do not compromise on the basic principles, and yet it is modern because these classic recipes are revisited, interpreted and adapted by the creativity of the kitchen team. They have also carefully selected the wines in the cellar to provide you with a wide range from all over Italy.

We ordered from the lunch set menu and weren't disappointed. We both had the crostini with goat's cheese and the porchetta for main. Both were delicious and well presented. The staff were friendly and very efficient without rushing us. We were very pleased with the whole meal and at £10.99 (+£2.50 supplement for the porchetta) is fantastic value. We will definitely return when next in Guildford.

We were squeezed into small tables surrounded by other people when there was plenty of space elsewhere in the restaurant

Really enjoyed our first visit. Varied menu and our choices were really good. Friendly, attentive service. Will certainly return, though we thought the drinks prices were rather high. £6 for a glass of wine seems OTT.

Service and food were excellent. Unfortunately the restaurant was cold, there was cold air blowing out from vents and the radiator was cold. This was on an evening when the temperature was dropping below freezing outside.

Very pleasant dining area upstairs. The choice of food was from three separate menus and was delicious. Very efficient service and the wine recommended was excellent. My only complaint is that service is included. I strongly feel that a tip should be a matter of choice and should be a reflection of the service received, not automatic irrespective of quality of service received.

Table a little too close to others for privacy. Lovely food and service though.

Always enjoy Olivo. The staff are great, make you feel most welcome. The food authentic, reasonably priced (especially when your dining chum pays!). The wine is of a high standard.
