Had a lovely risotto and they catered for my sisters gluten free. Nice restaurant - very busy. Would recommend.

The first Olivo to be opened back in November 1997, Olivo - Guildford is set in a building believed to be a late Elizabethan timber-framed house, dating back to the early 1660s. The current Restaurant Manager is Mr. Paolo Ditale, whose passion for food, service and detail has inspired an amazing menu and a superb style of service. Olivo's cuisine is based on three basic principles: Traditional Italian methods, modern interpretation and the use of quality raw ingredients. It is traditional Italian because the staff do not compromise on the basic principles, and yet it is modern because these classic recipes are revisited, interpreted and adapted by the creativity of the kitchen team. They have also carefully selected the wines in the cellar to provide you with a wide range from all over Italy.

Delicious food as ever. Friendly service and fantastic value. One of my favourite places to have lunch and dinner.

Excellent service and lovely food choice. All staff were up to speed on my stated allergies and couldn't have been more helpful. Added bonus we were able to sit outside in the sunshine!

Lovely atmosphere, great service and best of all, the food. Outstanding Calamari to start, generous portion and beautiful main, Burrida - if you like your seafood, this is for you. Amazing. My guests were also very happy with their chosen meals. Would recommend to anyone who loves an informal and authentic Italian.

Good food, good service can't fault it except to say slightly limited menu choice compared to other Italian restaurants

I chose this restaurant to treat my girlfriend, and to try and sample more restaurants in the Guildford area. Unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience, and would not recommend the restaurant when brilliant alternatives such as Positano are available.

We had bruschetta and olives for our starters. The bruschetta was good, served with tomatoes and rocket. My partner is a huge fan of olives but was very disappointed and did not eat them, as she did not like the dressing they were in. It made them soggy and sharp, which wasn't to her taste.

For our mains, we had ravioli and spaghetti bolognese, which were both in fact very good. The bolognese ragu was rich and tasty, and I enjoyed it. My partner also enjoyed her ravioli. It wasn't special but there isn't much to complain about here.

However, the real pitfall came with dessert, when we ordered tiramisu. My partner was extremely excited, as tiramisu is her favourite dessert and is usually fantastic at Italian restaurants. However, there was no other word to describe it but awful. The first centimeter of the dessert was fantastic, with soft textured cake and delicious cream. The other 90% of the dessert was soggy and cold, and leaking liquid into the bottom of the bowl. The classic alcoholic flavour was missing and the texture was unpleasant, akin to eating cake whilst sitting in torrential rain. Their special for the day was a raspberry and chocolate lava cake, which I hope was much better!

The service was quick and polite; however, for the slightly more expensive price range, something was missing in the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience was not nearly as welcoming and friendly as alternatives, and that combined with disappointing food detracted from the visit.

I hope that if we ever do visit again, perhaps with different food choices or a weekend booking, the experience might be better. Would give a 3 star rating if not for our tiramisu mistake!

The restaurant looked great but the food was superb, the service and the wine were exceptional.

Our first time at Olivo. Upon arrival we were shown to a table for two close to the door, where unfortunately being a very cold night, a cold draught of air reached us whenever the door was opened. We asked if it was possible to change our table, and were kindly and quickly shown to a table upstairs which we appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our meal and the wine we chose was very good. Service was very attentive and speedy.
