Location beautiful as always. The starter and pudding selections were very good. The carvery was extremely poor. The chicken was dried out and looked as though it had been sitting for some time. There was nobody around to carve the beef and lamb, both of which were overcooked. The potatoes were not even remotely crisped and looked as though they had been boiled and seasoned without actually roasting them. The vegetable gratin hadn't been replenished so we shared one small portion size between 4 of us.
This carvery is more than double the price of most and quite honestly I could have got a better meal at any of the local pubs for a fraction of the price.
    nice wines, even if overpriced.

staff were very nice, food was good but not much choice. When I called to book I was told for the £20 offer it was not a different menu, however this was not the case. I would have paid more for the meal if I had known the choice was limited. I know it was different to the normal menu as other diners were eating things that were not on our menu. It also stated on the information that the Oakes Grill had a dress code of trousers and shirt. However when we arrived dressed formally, others were in dressing gowns from the health spa and jeans etc.

Food and service were excellent. My wife loved Mothers Day gift and sparkling wine.

Lovely restaurant with comfortable seating and the staff were very attentive. We thought we were going for a lunch consisting of small, faffy portions as we were on a £20 a head menu offer. Quite the contrary the portions were a good size, tasty and cooked beautifully. The star of the day with a black quinoa and caulifliower salad starter.

Set in these beautiful grounds, certainly a place to remember. Although we found the lunch time menu very limited, The cod & chips that I chose, was the best fish & chips I have ever tasted. We found the staff to be fabulous, extremely helpful and faultless.
