The pinnacle of Italian dining in Glasgow for over 45 years, O Sole Mio proudly offers an authentic taste of Naples, with a traditional wood-burning brick oven, hand-stretched pizzas, and warm Mediterranean ambience.

As Scotland’s first restaurant to utilise a traditional wood-burning oven in 1965, O Sole Mio takes great pride in its range of pizzas. An eclectic antipasti selection includes sharing platters of Italian cured meats, as well as bold flavours in the grilled tiger prawns with lemon and chilli dressing. Fresh pasta on the O Sole Mio menu includes superb vegetarian gnocchi, with all pasta available al dente if requested.

Carefully selected Italian bottles feature on the wine list at O Sole Mio Glasgow, which are perfect to enjoy in the colourful, intimate setting of the restaurant. The open kitchen creates a real buzz, while contemporary artwork adorns the walls.

O Sole Mio restaurant sits in the city centre, 10 minutes’ walk from Glasgow Queen Street Rail Station.

I expect good service, good food and good value as standard, and I don't like doing surveys! However, this restaurant actually managed all of the above which I find quite rare and worthy of remark. The excellent service began when I perused the menus on line. I noticed there was no indication when the pre-theatre menu commenced or concluded, so I queried, but didn't expect a reply before I had possibly booked elsewhere.
Within two minutes came the response with the information I required and the decision to go there was made. The food was good - the stroganoff a bit of a steal from the very reasonable pre-theatre menu, and the house red nice too (this is an area many restaurants pay little attention to, ruining an otherwise pleasant experience). The service was very attentive, but would this continue when we asked for the bill - a characteristic of many Italian Restaurants, in my experience, is that this particular item can be difficult to obtain without issuing ultimatums or kidnapping a member of staff? Crucially, it arrived without delay, with no unexpected additions - another two boxes ticked.
So, all in all, no complaints - unusual for me, and much to feel good about. In fact, I felt so good I left a modest tip, also unusual for me as I'm not just careful with money, I'm positively mean. Would I recommend it, would I go back? Yes, I would. It's exactly what a restaurant should be like, in an excellent location, close to the Royal Concert Hall and the rest of Glasgow City Centre. Full marks, not even a squiggly red line in the margin.

very easy to book on line, quick conformation of booking....I booked for a family meal which included our 8mnth granddaughter...unfortunately the resturaurant did not have baby changing facilities although the staff were very helpful in arranging an area that could be used.
learning curve for future meals out with the family.
