Afternoon Tea at Number Sixteen hotel is an elegant and luxurious affair. With the option to take tea in any of the public spaces, from the library to the tree-filled hotel garden, there is a setting for every weather and occasion.
The Number Sixteen menu covers classic afternoon tea with the usual sandwiches and scones on offer, as well as some lesser-seen creations, such as arancini, accompanied by sweet options such as Bakewell tart. A lighter option on offer is the ‘fruit tea’, which consists of 5 plates of colourful treats themed around blueberries, orange, lime zest and honey. A gluten-free tea is available on request.
The stunning landscaped garden offers a blissful escape from the bustle of London, whilst the colourful drawing room full of modern, decorative art and bright pink fabrics, is a funky, laidback setting. The cosy library and light-flooded conservatory are also open for afternoon tea at Number 16 in London.
Number Sixteen is situated in the heart of South Kensington, with the museums on its doorstep, and South Kensington Tube Station just a 2-minute walk away.

It has been a freat experience. Everyone at the hotel was very accomodating and kind. The tea, fruit, pastries, warm scones, sandwiches were all dainty and delicious. We had tea at the gazebo and it couldn't have been more perfect.

I came here with friends for afternoon tea for my birthday and it was perfect. Gorgeous setting, not overcrowded even when busy. Staff were attentive but not fussy. Were not rushed at all. The food and tea was delicious. The staff even bought me out a cake with a candle on a plate with happy birthday written on it in sauce which was lovely and made my day. Good attention to detail. Genuinely a really lovely experience, lovely friendly staff. Would certainly return again! Easy to book online as well. Also thinking of taking my mum and she is lactose intolerant so I enquired whether they could cater for her and they said yes which is brilliant as a lot of place dont !! Perfect afternoon.

Although the afternoon tea itself was as expected, we were nevertheless very disappointed with the attitude of the female waitress.Upon our arrival, l had spoken to the female receptionist, who greeted us warmly & proceeded to phone ahead to ensure we were taken through to the dining area.I had already expressed we were slightly early & offered to wait if necessary. She assured us this was no problem whatsoever. However, when l repeated that we were slightly ahead of schedule to the waitress,(a mere 20 minutes incidentally & it was snowing outside)she felt it necessary to comment that we were early in a rather haughty manner.Once again, l offered to wait elsewhere until our table was available but she showed us through regardless.l was slightly surprised to find only 1 other table in use, with a further 2 guests at that time. So, l didn't see the need for her to have commented. She seemed irritated that l didn't wish to listen to the different menu options & again her attitude was not particularly professional. We had based our booking on the menu we had already chosen & when l tried to interject that the supervisor Mark was fully aware of our request, she proceeded to talk over me which was frankly incredibly rude!Despite this, we were determined to enjoy our treat & relished the opportunity to do so.The cakes, sandwiches & scones were all delightful. The only dietary criticism was the overpowering amount of mustard in the ham sandwiches.Mark kindly came over to our table & provided us with a cake box as we were unable to consume all on offer, having left 2 chocolate brownies & 2 of the 4 scones. On requesting the bill, l was extremely embarrassed to be told by the waitress in a loud voice, in front of the fellow guests, that l had not left sufficient funds. l had left the cost of the afternoon tea, minus the service charge, which was clearly optional as stated on my bill. She continued to procrastinate & felt it necessary to challenge me further which was not acceptable!
