In the majestic 5-star setting of The Scotsman Hotel, North Bridge Brasserie offers a modern take on Scottish favourites. An upper-floor dining room filled with original features is offset by a slick downstairs bar.
Surrounded by ornately corniced ceilings and smooth wood-panelled walls, guests can enjoy elegantly presented, gourmet dishes from the North Bridge restaurant menu. Sample spring chicken with saffron risotto cake and roast sweetcorn, or roasted North Sea squid with smoked Shetland mussel fritters. Classic desserts are served with experimental flair at North Bridge restaurant in Edinburgh, like rhubarb and elderflower Eton mess, or peanut butter parfait with a sesame macaron.
In the North Bridge bar, guests can enjoy chic cocktails and a cosmopolitan drinks list against a backdrop of brushed steel, under-lit smoked glass, and marble. Fine wines and a connoisseur-worthy whisky list are also on offer.
North Bridge Brasserie is just 3 minutes’ walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station and a stone’s throw from the lively shopping strip of Princes Street.

I cannot believe I have been sent this feedback request. We booked a table for Sunday only to find the place had shut down. No notification given. Then we get sent an email asking for feedback! Ludicrous.

Booked on a recommendation from a family member who thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful setting and staff and food were excellent.
However there were some small issues which slightly took away from the experience.
-only the market menu available which is smaller than the a la carte. Was never notified of this when booking online. Strange not to have a la carte on Friday eve.
-first wine we ordered they didn't have in stock
- I had tried to organise 2 glasses of champagne on arrival was it was a special occasion but this was forgotten about.
The restaurant looks like it is for rent at present which may explain some of the above.
Overall experience was very good but these few little items spoiled things marginally.

We had Champagne Afternoon Tea as a birthday celebration. The Brasserie is ideally situated for people travelling into Edinburgh by train, and is very well set out. The staff were all friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The afternoon tea was beautifully served, and we had more than anyone could eat.

We had a really good afternoon tea and the food was absolutely exquisite. Our favourite part was definitely the macaroons as they were delicious. We were absolutely stuffed afterwards and even got offered to take some food away in a box. However, one thing that it down for us was the very poor service. Our main waitress was very clumsy and extremely uninterested in providing a good service (she even sighed and rolled her eyes whilst saying the contents of our order). We didn't expect this, especially considering the status of the hotel.

Beautiful restaurant and 5* staff. Service was impeccable and staff were very friendly. Food was brilliant too!
Only things I would fault is that food portions are a little small, but its not a huge issue.

Great service. Lovely food. Steak was perfectly cooked and the stone bass was amazing. A great selection of wine and cocktails and outstanding desserts. All in a lovely setting. What more could you want.

Afternoon Tea, celebrating a friend's 50th birthday. Lovely place and pleasant staff. However I felt the good was not as fresh as it could have been. Egg sandwich a bit dry on outside, wherever was under the cream cheese and smoked salmon was dry and chewy, tasteless. Scones were very dry obviously not made that morning, very disappointing.
