No.77 in Cambridgeshire brings authentic Thai food to a quirky village pub. Decorated with upcycled vintage furniture, sparkling chandeliers and unusual wall hangings, No.77 in Caxton is a gastropub with style.

The menu at No.77 is brimming with fresh, aromatic Thai flavours. Thai curry, stir fry and noodle dishes dominate, including sea bass fillet with chili, basil, garlic and sticky rice, and pad Thai with roasted chili and peanuts.

Little ones aren’t left out, with a ‘Tiny Thai’ menu serving child-friendly portions of staple dishes, including sweet and sour chicken with rice or crispy noodles with Thai-style gravy and seasonal vegetables. The cosy bar also boasts a range of signature cocktails, local and world beers and quality wines.

Blending quality Asian food with unique décor, No.77 still retains the charm of a traditional village pub. In the Cambridgeshire village of Caxton, it is a 25-minute drive from Cambridge city centre.

    Excellent service and food

Service was very friendly and helpful, although we did wait quite some time for our main course. No.77 has a lovely cosy atmosphere, great for a dark winters evening. The pub/Thai restaurant thing is a really cool concept, and makes for an inviting place to walk into. The team should be proud of what they have set up.

Unfortunately whilst the food was pleasant and contributed to a lovely lazy evening, it wasn't as authentic as we would have hoped for given the blurb on the website about the Thai chefs. In particular the food wasn't balanced in flavour, all too sweet and not balanced with saltiness/acidity/heat, which is the whole aim of Thai food. Thai food should be vibrant and fresh, with each dish giving a different balance and lots of different textures. I'm sure the Thai chefs could turn their hands to a more vibrant menu. It seems the menu has been dumbed down to make it easy for customer and kitchen.

The Beef Massaman was nice enough (as above too sweet) but not really a proper Massaman....this should be a slow cooked dish with tender beef falling apart, with a deep rich flavour of star anise, coconut, lemon grass, galangal and garlic, with the sauce being relatively dry sauce and coating. In this instance it was strips of quick cooked beef in a lose coconut sauce which was more like a sweet red Thai without the lime leaves.

The pad Thai was pretty good and tasted almost like the numerous versions we've eaten all over Thailand.....it was just too sweet....we couldn't finish it which is unusual for pad Thai which is always hoovered up!

Tempura squid for starters was tasty enough, but not what I'm used to from Thai deep fried squid. The clue should have been in the title for me.....tempura is Japanese, so I shouldn't have expected Thai style! However given this is a Thai restaurant, can I appeal to No.77 to go for something more authentic?

We would go back, and would hope our comments go towards a refined effort in the kitchen.

We've been to No 77 many times (more than 20) and have never been disappointed. The food has always been so deliciously cooked and we know we'll come again as often as we can. In fact we are bringing the family for a celebratory dinner next month.

Pop up pizza. Nice food, a better menu choice to last year. Not a fan of the paper under the pizza on the plate. My first bit had paper attached.

Service and staff excellent. On night we visited (Thursday 19 January) it was a very cold evening and really not warm enough inside, even though we sat in front of the open fire, which was not replenished and eventually went out! January is Pizza month and ours were very good - first time we had tried them. We had rocket and parmesan salads and we found them a little too salty - seemed to be seasoned with rock salt. It would be easier to eat the pizza direct from the plate rather than paper in between - mouthful of paper not that appealing! We struggle with the cinema style seating and always try and ask for a table with traditional chairs. The dark interior makes it very atmospheric but a bit 'cold' not cosy .... or maybe we are just too old?! We love the Thai menu and have been several times .....

A disaster, nearly two hours from ordering the pizza to it arriving on the table, and then not too good even then (although the starters were great, but again very late delivery). To be fair we were warned that the food would be delayed, but we kept being told that it wouldn't be much longer. If we were given honest information we would have made other arrangements.

The reason that i have kept "recommend" is because of the service and quality of the Thai food in the past. Looking forward to their return from holiday!
