Named Best Malaysian Restaurant in the 2012 Asian Curry Awards, Ning Canteen, Café & Restaurant is a chic and contemporary Malaysian restaurant in Manchester’s trendy Northern Quarter. Ning combines inspiration from the noodle bars of busy Asian cities with the relaxed vibes of continental European cafés to create a restaurant that was voted in the Manchester Evening News Top 10 Places to Eat in Manchester for 2014.
Rapidly rising Ning head chef, Norman Musa, tips his hat to the eclectic influences behind Malaysian cuisine with the Ning Canteen menu, with aromatic Malay curries joined by wok-fried delicacies like Thai sweet basil meat padrik and tasty noodles from Malaysian street-food heaven, Georgetown. Speciality dishes include pan-fried seabass with sweet and sour chilli gravy, while Thai favourites like pad thai add a further Asian dimension.
Ning Canteen in Manchester is a vibrant restaurant, decorated with pink and red floral prints and giant red Chinese lanterns which offset modern, dark tables. Ning’s food is halal, and chef Musa runs a cookery school for those hungry to learn.
Ning Canteen, Café & Restaurant is next door to Frog & Bucket Comedy Club, and a 5-minute walk from Piccadilly Gardens.
