Praised by top critics including Jay Rayner and Grace Dent, Native in Neal’s Yard pairs innovative cooking techniques with a passion for produce, creating a menu of flavour-rich, seasonal dishes. Served in charmingly laidback surrounds, dishes are packed with the country's best wild food that is native to the UK.

From a River Cottage-trained chef, the Native menu showcases natural, foraged and seasonal ingredients. Dishes evolve with the seasons, but starters may include the likes of wild rabbit and prune pastilla with pickled walnut salad, or smoked pollock croquettes with lovage mayo. For mains, discover dishes like venison rack with spiced cabbage and pommes boulangeres, or flame-grilled clams with ham hock broth and homemade sourdough.

Desserts at Native Covent Garden are no less inventive. Joining a classic English cheese board are twists on favourites, such as pain perdu with basil and lemon curd ice cream.

Tucked away in Neal’s Yard, Native restaurant in London is a 3-minute walk from Covent Garden Tube Station.

Native has a small menu card, but the dishes are fabulous. A real discovery.

Its all about the food, which was creative and superb. Good service too.

We eventually stumbled over Native strolling through London and immediately we were interested. The food we met same evening did indeed live up to expectations. From the vegetable dishes to the game - everything with respect for the raw native ingredients and even the native Wine from Gloucester was brilliant. NOT the last time we visit you??

The food we excellent. We could not fault the service. Loved it.

Fairly quiet on a Tuesday lunchtime but fantastic cooking at bargain prices. The wild boar ragu was unctuous and venison outstanding.

This chef enobled 'pollock' - a fish that chefs regard as 'challenging'. He made hare ragu a mouthwatering winter specialty, and he precisely cooked venison. Only localized hot spots of salt in the hush puppies detracted.

Best English wine list that I have found. The 2014 Sixteen Ridges Vineyard Pinot Noir Early was indistinguishable from a commune Burgundy. Great progress from 'a nation of shopkeepers'.

What a fantastic experience we had at Native. A great concept combined with excellent food. Extra props to the team who are all attentive and friendly - they engage with guests and are passionate about the food also. Unfortunately if paying with card you cannot add a tip to your bill which is a shame because the service is so great and reward is much deserved. We will make sure to bring cash in future for this reason. We are so happy we found this gem. Will definitely be back.
