Boasting a stunning 92-foot high location at the top of the National Portrait Gallery, the National Portrait Restaurant delivers modern European cuisine. Simple yet elegant presentation mirrors the beauty of the National Portrait Gallery beneath, and the panoramic London vista outside.

The National Portrait Restaurant menu is a refined selection of seasonal options, made with the finest ingredients from local suppliers. A la carte options feature bream with celeriac purée, braised fennel, lemon and saffron sauce, and a milk chocolate mousse with salted caramel, while the set menu is graced by pork knuckle terrine with spiced pickle radishes, and a roast cod loin with pancetta, wild mushrooms and merlot sauce.

Afternoon tea is a colourful menagerie of inventive creations from world-renowned pastry chef, Claire Clark MBE. Raspberry and rose éclair, salt beef brioche and homemade bounty bar can be enjoyed with hand-roasted coffee or Tregothan loose leaf teas. An extensive selection of New World and French wines can be enjoyed whilst taking in the breath-taking London skyline.

Like all food offerings, the drinks selection at the National Portrait Restaurant in London is sourced from local suppliers. The National Portrait Gallery is a 3-minute walk from Leicester Square Station.

I took my three nieces to lunch here yesterday. The service was fantastic...definitely in my all time top 10 - they dealt happily with gluten and nut requests - and the food was excellent. Wonderful views and some sights on the way up - ie all the contemporary portraits - to get conversations quite animated by the time you get to the top. I love this place

It was a very good experience and the food was very nice. Only bad thing is, they wouldn't let me take a cake in for wife's 30th birthday but other wise it was really nice with amazing views.

It was my partners 75th Birthday so it was a real treat to be made to be made special, the staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, the food was lovely and it arrived hot which we both enjoyed.

Staff very welcoming and accommodating. Outstanding service. Food very nice; starters perhaps overpriced. Wine was good value for Central London. Really buzzy atmosphere without being too noisy.
