A quaint, retro haven of family recipes and classic British style, Muriel's Kitchen Richmond is a charming eatery close to the river. From breakfast to bedtime, the restaurant serves all day, with velvet tub chairs and mosaic tiling creating a wonderfully pretty setting.

Fresh, seasonal produce is used on the frequently changing Muriel's Kitchen Richmond menu. I've had lovely lunch/brunch at this branch of Muriel's and this is the first time I'd booked for dinner. Dinner here is not as successful. We were a party of 8 and I don't think any one of us was fully satisfied with their dishes. The "classic" prawn cocktail was far from that, merely an arrangement of prawns on little gem leaves with inadequate sauce which was strangely overspiced. My mother's fish pie was bland and in pastry, not with expected potato topping. The steak and ale pie had a whiff of school dinners and the chicken schnitzel, nice in itself, came with a nasty strong tasting jalapeño and cilantro sauce and boring kale, where a green salad with great dressing would have been far preferable. We had a really nice waiter, but we felt embarrassed for him when the manager pointed at my 22yr old niece (after we'd been served some wine) and berated him for not asking her age, in front of us (he should have used far more discretion), as if we would be a crowd of underage alacaholic enablers..
All in all, not a wholly unpleasant experience as we were a jolly party and the service was good and some of the food was fine, but not special.

Little tiny finger sandwiches has away too much maionese! You only get a small cup of tea. We end up paying double for extra tea/coffee. Avoid at all cost!

Everything was lovely apart from the English white wine which was fizzy and tasted dreadful - however the staff were understanding and changed it for something else

Lunch menu did not appeal to me - no weekday lunch specials - too expensive for a average lunch during the week.

I thought I would try your new restaurant as a change but there was no enticement for me to return.
