A stunningly presented Japanese restaurant in Convent Garden, Murakami Restaurant blends izakaya-style dishes with unique interior design that represent the 5 elements of Japanese philosophy – fire, wind, water, metal and earth.

The Murakami Restaurant menu covers everything from classic sushi and sashimi favourites, to traditional izakaya sharing plates. Signature rolls feature prawn tempura, avocado, mango and spicy mango sauce, while special aburi rolls that are flame seared with Japanese charcoal combine tuna with caramelised onion salsa. From the Japanese robata grill there is Wagyu beef with truffle butter, and vegetarian recipes like grilled aubergine with saikyo miso.

There is a huge sake Japanese whisky and beer selection at Murakami Restaurant in Covent Garden, while unique cocktail creations use exciting flavours like roasted rosemary and yakitori sauce. Inside the restaurant, there are stunning design touches like a 12-metre wall filled with long grass, and numerous hanging art pieces.

With truly unique style and a versatile menu, Murakami Restaurant in London is a 2-minute walk from Leicester Square Tube Station.

Superb food, service and atmosphere. Food is just simply delicious, we'd definitely recommend the Octopus Carpaccio, Spice Mango Rolls, Tuna Ceviche Rolls, Popcorn Tempura and the Black Cod Saikyo.

Mainly good for groups. First off, the service is really nice, you can tell that they are making an effort to be welcoming which is more than appreciated as it is not always the case! The food is nice, but we found the menu not very varied and not very flexible, we were a bit disappointed not to be able to order a selection of the different rolls and sushis, you have to order them in groups of 6 or 8, which is perfect for a big group but not ideal for only 2 people as you end up only being able to try two types or so... The salmon teriyaki is brilliant, although a tad too salted for my taste, I was also a little annoyed by the fact that it does not come with rice by default and it is not clear so we only realised once it had arrived and had to order the rice after, giving it time to cool down... The wagyu beef was not as nice as I have had it before, a little chewy, might be better if they let people choose the cooking? Also the truffle butter served with it is over-powering and was already melted when it arrived to our table. I missed the gyozas on the menu too, but that's personal taste, I absolutely love them!

Wonderful New Year's Eve celebration! The best sushi we've ever had in England. I've never really been a great fan of sushi, but Murakami's has turned me into one. The grilled salmon teriyaki was also superb. For dessert, we had the green tea and coconut ice cream--best ever! Our only suggestion is that the a la carte broccoli we ordered should have been served with the salmon. We will definitely be back!
