Mr Cooper's offers a multitude of different dining settings under one roof, combining modern touches with the history and heritage of Mr Cooper himself, whose house and famous gardens sat on the site back in 1819. Trees, birdhouses and a gazebo decorate the striking dining room which, with a zesty-green and white colour scheme, ushers the outdoors in.
The restaurant serves daring elegant food, cooked with flair and imagination. Seasonal dishes include starters of pressed smoked Ham hock with crispy pig's cheek, egg and bacon, followed by Cumbrian lamb rump with scorched turnips, cracked wheat and lamb jus. For dessert caramel popcorn tart with roasted rye ice cream and soured cream perfectly compliments the season.
Delivering world class service, the award-winning bar is known for its use of avant-garde ingredients and techniques including drinks made using a Rotary Evaporator. Lounge in the lush garden, sip on a cocktail in the library, or cosy up in the study’s leather booths with a fabulous drinks list boasting a wide range of spirits, beers and juices. Mr Cooper's Bar has been shortlisted for Imbibe's 'Drinks List of the Year 2016' and also listed in Condé Nast Traveller 'The Gold Standard 2015'.
Listed in The Good Food Guide 2017, Mr Cooper’s House & Garden at the Midland Hotel in Manchester is a 7-minute walk from Manchester Oxford Road Rail Station.

Staff were most attentive and pleasant. We were allowed to choose a table as the restaurant was quite quiet. We ordered from the a la carte menu and chose the corn fed chicken breasts which were beautifully cooked and the vegetables complimented the dish. We shared a bowl of chips and had a cheese board to follow. We had wine by the glass and coffee later. Water was offered and re-filled during the meal. We were not rushed but neither were we left a long time between courses. Everything was just right and we really enjoyed our visit.

The meal was excellent. Not overpriced and not huge but good sized portions. Waiter was welcoming and couldn't fault the service. Would definitely visit again.

excellent food in very nice surroundings. The restaurant was not too stuffy and the staff who attended to us were brilliant. we would definitely eat here again if we re-visited Manchester and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.
just one small silly comment, we had two irish coffees at the end of the meal which we could not touch for a while due to the obviously hot temperature of the coffee!! a few traditional glasses with a handle would be appreciated!!

The food was lovely
I was very disappointed that the table was tiny and we were sat in a corner behind a pillar. We came to view the beautiful decor and to see the lovely features but were unable to where we were sat

The meal was very good, the service was brilliant, I have only one complaint that we met some friends in the bar, prior to the meal, as it was our wedding anniversary, 45years, we had drinks in the bar and requested separate bill, as the friends had already ordered drinks. It was to my embarrassment, that my friends had been presented with the bill for our drinks, which we found out later, they had paid.

Excellent food and service in a relaxed charming atmosphere. An interesting twist on classic fine dining options. Highly recommend to try the veal tartare and squash risotto.
