My family and I have had Sunday lunch here on numerous occasions over the past 10 years or so and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Although, we all thought the food, and especially the service, was not quite up to the usual standard on this occasion. We had to remind the waiting staff several times about the things we had asked for: water, lager, vegetables. The beef and pork was very nicely cooked. Although the apple crumble was ok, nothing special - portion was a bit small. Overall we had a very enjoyable lunch and would and have recommended The Moonfleet to others.

Had afternoon tea. It was fantastic. We ate in the lounge and it was very comfortable. Food was very good and plentiful. The staff were very friendly

We went for afternoon tea which turned out to be a delightful experience. We ate in the restuarant by choice although we were offered seats in the lounge area. We were served two portions of each, sausage roll (warm) various finger sandwiches, scone (warm) with jam and cream, slice of Victoria sponge, chocolates. Two small pots of dessert, one chocolate based the other strawberry based. I elected for coffee and an excellent glass of house champagne my companion for earl grey tea. It's fair to say the Moonfleet exceeded our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The tea was very enjoyable though the vegetarian sandwiches were just cheese & the scone was a little hard. It would have been nice if someone asked if everything was okay & to offer a hot water top up for our tea. The fire was lit for us & the ambiance was warm & cozy. When paying I was charged £21.50 x 2. I asked for this to be changed as one website stated £18.50 one £19.50 & the latest £21.50. I was told the cakes had been changed. There was also an offer of 25% off for January which was not applied. I felt this had spoilt the occasion of my Birthday & paid £37.00 with mo tip as thete had been no service apart from the delivery of the tea. This was a shame as I had been looking for a spa hotel to use for myself but more importantly for a big Birthday next year.
The buliding & position are lovely & I know it has a casual atmosphere because it is a family hotel but judge each customer on their needs when they come in & do not over charge

Good quality food . well booked but menu needs a little more on it there was no chicken and no real choice if you were there more than one day. Also the specials were not pointed out to you.
