We felt that we had just entered in a good provincial French Restaurant, in fact we were in several similar bistros in Lyon and Bordeaux just afterwards.

One of the oldest French restaurants in London, 2 AA Rosette award-winning Mon Plaisir on Monmouth Street has been serving delectable French cuisine for over half a century.

Decorated in French artefacts, Mon Plaisir - London resonates with a nostalgic atmosphere of decadent France throughout its 4 individual dining rooms. Mon Plaisir also features a pewter topped bar which once graced the lounge of a Lyonnaise brothel.

Mon Plaisir Covent Garden continues to serve traditional cuisine created from the finest French ingredients and carefully prepared by the restaurant’s highly skilled chefs. Signature dishes include snails in garlic and parsley butter and the fillet of sea bream with mustard sauce, exuding a real French flair. There is also a slick wine list which predominantly features fine French wines.

With its fine French food and authentic ambience, Mon Plaisir is just a 7-minute walk from Covent Garden Tube Station. Mon Plaisir has been acknowledged in fine restaurant guides, including Hardens, Square Meal, Via Michelin and The Good Food Guide.

Average. They acknowledged we were going to theatre on arrival but then we waited too long to have our order taken. They didnt have the first two chosen red wines on their large list which delayed everything making us very rushed to get to the theatre on time. Food was also average especially the mains - coq au vin chicken was rather overcooked and dauphinoise disappointing. Would not rush back.

The staff at Mon Plasir Monmouth Street treated us extremely well. It was our second occasion at the restaurant and the manager looked after us from the time we entered to the time we left the restaurant as she had done the time before. She even remembered that we had come from Wales and we had last visited 2 years earlier!!
The food was exceptional and we all can't wait to come back to London to eat there again.
    Thank you so much.

Nice atmosphere you can hear yourself talk, not one of these many noisy restaurants in London, food & wine was really good, proper tasty french food and the cooking was perfection. Scallops perfectly cooked.
Our server was not very helpful in the choice of our dishes or in responding to our questions but maybe she was new. Overall the staff was nice.
I ll definitely go back to try more dishes as it was a real " home away from home " meal.

Quaint french restaurant in the bustling theatre district. Worth the visit, even uf you are not going to the theatre.

Excellent food. Harks back to the quality food once available all over France. Good value.

Premises very bistro in the good sense. Well situated.

This was our second visit to Mon Plaisir and we had another enjoyable experience in this obviously popular eaterie close to London's theatreland. We had a table for four including two vegetarians who were generally pleased with the offer available to them - apart from the unnecessary use of chicken stock in the French onion soup! They did like the carrot and cumin soup that was offered as an alternative however. I ate the salmon cannelloni starter which was substantial, tasty and well-presented followed by the medium-cooked noisette d'agneau (lamb) accompanied by pommes alumettes (skinny fries). We drank a reasonably priced bottle of Cotes du Rhone with our meal and shared an assiette gourmande dessert between us. Overall, the service was pretty good for a busy Saturday evening and we would cheerfully return.

As always excellent but the monk fish was a little insipid.

Usual relaxed atmosphere with friendly welcome and service. Menu broad enough to offer choice with good value. Consistent feeling of exiting having thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
