A beautiful Grade-II listed Victorian townhouse in Bayswater, a stone’s throw from Hyde Park, Mitre-Lord Craven is a traditional Young’s pub and restaurant. Mitre is split over 3 levels, with a colourful 1st-floor 'Lord Craven Grill' room and 'Old Mary’s' basement speakeasy, which occupies the former servants' quarters.

Seasonal mains grace the Mitre menu, and can range from slow-roast pork belly, with curly kale mash and red wine sauce, to a veggie’s heaven of butternut squash and chestnut risotto with spinach, truffle oil and parmesan. The 1st-floor Lord Craven Grill offers a robust evening menu with succulent 21-day aged steaks and braised shoulder of lamb.

Delve into the basement below the Mitre to discover Old Mary’s speakeasy bar, offering expertly-muddled classic cocktails and craft beers to guests alongside a range of tasty American-style hot dogs. Options include ‘wild boar chilli' and cheese, and the enticing Lord Craven with pulled pork and mustard mayo.

Dating back to 1850, Mitre-Lord Craven in London has retained many original features, such as its beautiful etched glass, mosaic floors and open fireplaces. It is a 4-minute walk from Lancaster Gate Tube Station.

Booked a table for a large number of family and friends (16 people) to celebrate my 60th birthday prior to going to see the Proms in the Park. The young Australian lady behind the bar was excellent and ensured we all had a great time, she mingled with my guests and took our food orders personally speaking to each individual in the party and ensured we all sat down and ate our meal together (Fish & Chips, Burgers, Sausage and Mash) the food was excellent quality and it really set the tone for a wonderful day.. Many thanks

The staff were great - very friendly and accommodating. The cocktails were delicious, with added wow factor, food was good. We had two sharing platters between six which were fairly generous and very tasty. All in all a great, relaxed evening.

Good food and service. Nice ambiance. The baked camembert is to die for. We do recommend this place.

Booked a table. Thought it would be upstairs, but it was in the pub. I didn't read the small print. Shame as it looks lovely upstairs. The ground floor is really nice too, but dad was up so I would have preferred upstairs. Also our table was right by the door, not so great for a booked table.

The food was extremely good. The Camembert was exceptional. Fish and chips was the perfect size. Mushy peas a bit dry. Stick toffee date cake was great.

Da bomb Bloody Mary was a bit of a let down. There was way to much horseradish. Not enough Worcester sauce, lemon etc. It was extremely hot, but not well balanced in flavour.

    Overall very, very good.

Everything seemed nice to start and we were given the table we had booked. I went to the bar to order our meal which consisted of a sharing platter starter for me and my wife and our main courses including a side order of chips. We sat and waited for our food. Eventually our food came up but it was our main dishes but we hadn't yet received our starter. The waiter went to check at which point he came back and apologised that the order for the starter had not gone through and he would get us around of drinks on the house which of course was a nice gesture. However my wife's meal was uneatable due to being cold. This was taken back but by the time a replacement hot meal came I had already eaten mine otherwise it would have been cold so in effect we ate separately. Added to this the side order of chips with my wife's meal did not come and the waiter went to sort that. By the time the chips eventually came she had finished the rest of her meal. The staff were helpful in sorting the issues however these did impair an otherwise evening out. Added to this my wife become uneasy remaining in the pub when it became apparent that a group of patrons at the next table were openly snorting lines of drugs in view of other customers and staff and we're completely left to freely do this. We moved down stairs to the less busy cocktail bar and continued our evening where the barman there was amazing and his customer service seem a world of improvement away from upstairs.
