A stunning renovated 17th-century barn in Berkshire, Miltons Restaurant specialises in modern European dining, championing locally-sourced, seasonal cuisine. Awarded a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for 2013, the restaurant boasts a tranquil, secluded courtyard garden.

A rich starter of pan-fried wood pigeon breast with pappardelle pasta and mushroom consommé is joined on the Miltons Restaurant menu by an aromatic crispy duck leg with plum chutney, spring onions and pancake. Delectable desserts include gooey-centred favourite chocolate fondant, whilst mains feature the inventive duo of pork, which uses fillet and cheek cuts in a recipe with fondant potatoes and red wine jus.

Miltons afternoon tea, served daily, is also a favourite. Delicate roast beef and smoked salmon sandwiches partner patriotic, homemade butter and raisin scones and a wide selection of teas. The Miltons Restaurant wine list features an eclectic range of world wines alongside a sophisticated selection of champagnes for special occasions.

Miltons Restaurant is housed within the stunning Victorian Country House Hotel, backing on to Cantley Park. Wokingham Station is just a 5-minute drive away.

We had afternoon tea here to celebrate our parent's golden wedding anniversary and were a group of 7 people. The restaurant was nice and cosy with an open fire, which was welcoming as it was a bit chilly outside. Our party had a mix of the basic option and the sparkling wine option. The sandwiches and sweet treats all tasted lovely and there was plenty there. We all had a bit of a debate on how you should eat your cream tea too - cream or jam on top! We had a nice time as a family and it was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. My only feedback would be that we were surprised at the additional service charge that was added. This was not optional and other than bringing out the afternoon tea items, there was no further service received. We effectively ended up paying the equivalent of another person's afternoon tea portion as a service charge, which seemed a bit steep. I would recommend the restaurant for the quality of their food but would ensure that friends were aware of possible hidden charges.

We went for afternoon tea which was on offer at 2 for £17.50. It was very good value for money and lovely food. We had a table next to an open fire which was very welcome on a chilly February day. What completely made the afternoon for us though was the exceptional service provided by Magdalena. She was very attentive and couldn't have done more for us. I'd give her 10 stars if they were available!

We had afternoon tea for our family to help celebrate my wife's birthday. We had a nice welcome at the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food (their standard tea) was good value. Overall we had a good time, and will return.

A very disappointing Afternoon Tea. On arrival we waited for almost five minutes before anyone appeared to greet us. This was followed by a jug of milk that was off and no offer to replace the cups of those who had already poured it - we had to ask. Whilst the sandwiches and scones were good, the plates of small cakes were all chocolate with the exception of one small square of carrot cake. Not great for those of us who don't like chocolate cake and the only offer was for more scones!

The restaurant was lovely, comfy, clean and nicely decorated. The table was set out really well and the food was good. We did feel that for a traditional afternoon tea there wasn't enough scones so we had to ask for more and had to pay extra which I felt was a bit unreasonable. I am comparing this to other afternoon teas I have had. Overall though the food was lovely.
