Awful, really disappointed . It was my birthday. It took nearly 10 mins for someone to come and seat us and over 45 mins after our starter for our main course to arrive . Very strange became the family opposite us sat down about half hour after us , one of them had starters and they were all finished before our food arrived. The waitress was very friendly but never once told us why food not arriving and did not apologise when it turned up that late A real shame made worse because it was my bday. ??

Nice table and we were tucked away which was good for us. Food was very good and setting just right for a meal with friends inc 2 children. Our complaint would be lack of attentive service and very slow on drinks order in particular. I eat slowly yet was nearly finished my main before my drink arrived & all ordered at the same time but this was a consistent delay.
The waitress was very nice but perhaps too many tables per person to wait on??

Excellent food (fillet steak) once it arrived as it took over an hour to come, however also ordered a pasta dish for our two year old which was dried up. No one followed up during our meal to ask how food was. Place was messy and tables left uncleared and mess left on the floor (food etc). Place needed decorating and staff lacked politeness and consideration. Such a shame it has gone down hill. Staff seemed to lack direction and a good manager! Will certainly not return until things improve. Very disappointed indeed!

OK, but the room was far too cold

This was our first visit to a Miller&Carter restaurant. I won't be going back.

Starter - garlic prawns on ciabatta was cold, no butter either.

Steak - yes tasty but no better than I could have cooked at home.

Vegetables, broccoli, cold and overcooked. Sent them back, the same ones were returned to us slightly warmer.

Salad - sent 1 out of 3 back, the bacon topping was 'off', definitely!

Onion loaf - mire like onion scrapings.

As for the food, detritus, on our chairs, around and under our table and the slow service, but lovely waitress, I never want to frequent such an establishment again.

In the USA, they do this simple stuff seamlessly. Clean surroundings, and hot, perfectly cooked food.

Miller&Carter charge high prices for no apparent reason.

    Such a disappointment.

Great steak restaurant, it shames the likes of the Beefeater. The staff were fun and attentive, but more importantly the food was good!. The only negative like so many restaurants, alcohol free beer is rarely available. ( Blokes do drive, and some can't have sugary drinks). On the whole Well done the team at Wheathampstead

The service was good but the food...I was at the restaurant with my wife and daughter. We are not meat eaters and ordered a salmon dish. It arrived doused with black pepper! None of us like black pepper, this is unacceptable as black pepper is a personal taste and should be left on the table for the customers to take as they please. We returned our meals and the replacement was mediocre. The saute potatoes had too much salt on them. Needless to say we will not return to this restaurant.
