    Not a great night. There were 8 of us, we had been 3 weeks prior and a had a really good meal, steaks were delicious and the waitress was very efficient. This time it was very different. The waitress, although very polite, could not wait to get away from our table, she seemed quite stressed and rushed off her feet, we had to repeatedly ask for water that she kept forgetting to bring! Then the steaks came out, what a disaster. We had ordered 5 sirloins, 1 was quite nice 3 were acceptable and 1 was appalling. Never seen as much fat on a sirloin steak in my entire life and believe me I have eaten plenty. The meat was what can only be described as scraggy and poor quality. Needless to say we had a very happy dog that night! The chips were lukewarm, and the peas they my father in law had asked for were almost cold. My husband told the waitress about the sub standard sirloin and she said she would mention it. We heard no more about it, when the bill came we had been charged full price for the steak so we asked if she had mentioned it, to which she replied she had spoken to the manager and as a goodwill gesture they had knocked 1 drink off the bill and that they would inform the butcher about the poor quality of the steaks. We felt this was an absolute insult when we had just paid £22 for a steak! My father in law was less then happy, so on our way out he told them so, he also told them that we were taking a pound of fat home for the dog! The lady behind the bar then decided to issue a full refund for the steak. I get the impression that they were hoping that the 1 drink that they knocked off the bill as a goodwill gesture would appease us and that they would hear no more about it. This is really not the standard of customer service you would expect from Miller and Carter.

    Fantastic steaks as always. We had a wonderful waiter named Pierce I believe, so very friendly and spent as much time as he could to make us feel welcome even though he was extremely busy. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he's a credit to Miller and Carter! he even gave us a glass of prosecco as he believed we had waited too long, even though we hadn't really noticed. Good food is worth waiting for!

    Food was nice. Service was pretty standard and quite slow. Was waiting an hour for the food. An average experience.

    The food was excellent but the restaurant felt like it needed a small face lift/touch up.
