    First Class - Thanks

This is the fourth time I have visited. It is not a budget meal but the steaks are fantastic so worth paying for as a treat once in a while. The drinks (G & Ts) were quite pricey and there isn't much in the way of a choice of real ales on tap; just one I think. The location is great (parking on site is easy) and the building has a nice feel although the tables are a little close together. Despite the proximity of other diners the acoustics aren't echoey and you can hold a conversation without shouting. The service was excellent on this occasion as it has been on previous visits.

It could have been better had my request be granted. Food was good and waitress friendly, but felt that the restaurant is under-staffed.

The Jacobean Barn is my Dad's favourite restaurant so we always take him for his birthday, this week was his 89th. Watch out next year as we will coming mob handed for his 90th! We skip starter and just share a garlic bread and we all pick a lovely steak for main course, I choose not to have the lettuce, not my taste. We love the selection of sauces and find it hard to choose, Dad had Bearnaise and I picked Porcini, husband had no problem choosing Beef Dripping sauce. For dessert we had Bannoffi Pie and Lemon tart. We love the food, but the reason Jacobean barn is extra special is because of the beautiful historic building and the really lovely atmosphere that brings. Also nice attentive but not over-bearing waiting staff. Kathy x
