Featured in The Good Food Guide and named as one of the top 50 gastropubs in the UK, Millbrook Inn Devon is a 16th-century village pub serving French-inspired European cuisine. The emphasis is truly on local produce, with fresh fish a speciality.

The Millbrook Inn menu features creative interpretations of traditional flavours. To start, try layered goats’ cheese mousse with beetroot pickle, cucumber ribbons and a ginger and chili dressing, or the lavish plate of lardons, pig trotter patties, smoked duck breast and poached quail egg. Mains include leg of roe deer with celeriac mousseline, wild mushrooms and red wine jus, and pearl barley risotto with seasonal vegetables and parmesan. Amongst the flavoursome desserts are cardamom pancetta with mango sorbet, and dark chocolate fondant.

Popular as both a pub and a restaurant, Millbrook Inn South Pool serves local ales and world wines from its cosy bar. The pub also hosts regular live music nights.

In the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside, Millbrook Inn South Devon is a 30-minute drive from Dartmouth.

Food very good (boullaibaisse, octopus, etc) with a French twist. Wine list good. Beer also good. Service very good though possibly a little over fussy at times.

This is a lovely small pub offering fine dining quality food locally sourced mostly from suppliers in South Devon in a beautiful pituresque tiny village well off the beaten track. Querky touches such as the miss matched old cutlery added to the ambience of this very old building. The food on the evening was delicious. I have never before seen Bath chap (an inspired change from belly pork) on a restaurant menu and it certianly brought back childhood memories of something which had regularly featured in meals at home. The pork fillet which it accompanied was cooked to perfection and was delicious. I had the escargot to start. Something I did not expect to see on the menu and again they were delicious. The chocolate delice was also delightful but very sweet and the raspberry sorbet which accompanied it really cut the extreme sweetness of the chocolate. The waiting staff were very attentive and service was very quick, I might say, just a little too hurried, more like one would find acceptable in a pizza chain and I did wonder if the table had another booking, this later did not appear to be so. Despite this I can't wait to return on my next visit to this part of Devon.

Small, cosy dining area, genuinely welcoming staff. Unusual and beautifully cooked food with much sourced from local farms.
