Featured in The Good Food Guide and named as one of the top 50 gastropubs in the UK, Millbrook Inn Devon is a 16th-century village pub serving French-inspired European cuisine. The emphasis is truly on local produce, with fresh fish a speciality.

The Millbrook Inn menu features creative interpretations of traditional flavours. To start, try layered goats’ cheese mousse with beetroot pickle, cucumber ribbons and a ginger and chili dressing, or the lavish plate of lardons, pig trotter patties, smoked duck breast and poached quail egg. Mains include leg of roe deer with celeriac mousseline, wild mushrooms and red wine jus, and pearl barley risotto with seasonal vegetables and parmesan. Amongst the flavoursome desserts are cardamom pancetta with mango sorbet, and dark chocolate fondant.

Popular as both a pub and a restaurant, Millbrook Inn South Pool serves local ales and world wines from its cosy bar. The pub also hosts regular live music nights.

In the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside, Millbrook Inn South Devon is a 30-minute drive from Dartmouth.

The atmosphere and service at The Millbrook Inn were very pleasant and friendly. The Sunday roast was unfortunately very tough and no enjoyment and not worth the price. The meals were, however, nicely arranged.

Love the food here - and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

It was superb. It is a hugely atmospheric old pub with an old tap room on one side and the restaurant with log fire on the other side. The staff were really friendly and the food faultless. My husband and I took our 2 children aged 8 and 6 and they were warmly received and special child-friendly dishes offered even though there is not a specific kids menu. I had the mackerel ceviche which was super fresh, zingy, clean and light; followed by the cod with saffron rice, chorizo and mussels - all super tasty and cooked to perfection. My husband had the pigeon breast with cauliflower mousseline and then the bouillabaisse, both of which looked superb and he thoroughly enjoyed them. Delicious puds too and nice range of wines. All in all, in case you can't tell, we loved it and wish we lived near a gem like that. We really hope we will be able to visit this pub again.

Fabulous meal. Not a huge choice nor were portions very big but lovely flavours and beautifully presented. Lovely old fashioned pub with big roaring fire (visited end October) and a wonderful atmosphere. Best beers around and Salcombe gin and tonic was excellent. We had a lovely evening.

This is a very small, quaint, old village pub offering a fine dining experience. The a la carte menu is quite limited but the food was excellent. The owner was present and chatted with his guests making everyone feel welcome. The fish was superb and cooked to perfection. A few more escargot with less mushrooms would have improved the starter but otherwise this was very good. My friend had the pate which appeared to be more terrine style but she said was very good as was the duck with rabbit. Sadly we were too full to indulge in a dessert. All the wines on the list are able by the glass and the size starts at 125 ml , great for drivers who just want a small taste of a good wine. I will just definitely return on my next visit to Devon. Beware the parking can be tricky as this is a small village with no parking at the restaurant. The Devon roads and lanes leading to this beautiful location are very narrow. A few of the other customers were rather loud which was slightly off putting in such a small venue

    loved it

The pub restaurant is still a 'local' but mainly comprised weekenders and holidaymakers. It's small and cosy, especially the bar area which can get noisy, but the tables are a little away from it so quieter and intimate. The food is French and while the vegetable content is minimal, the flavours and cooking are lovely. When visiting South Devon I always enjoy an evening here and would recommend the Millbrook Inn to anyone.

Fantastic locally sourced food with imaginative dishes. Certainly the best restaurant in the area if not the south west! Great service, good value, we love it.

Good selection of finely sourced foods from local producers. Great choice of accompanying wines, beers and ales. Devon Rock was my particular favourite.
