Championing the best of the Scottish larder, Michael Neave Kitchen and Whisky Bar offers creations from one of Scotland’s most promising young chefs: named runner-up of Young Scottish Chef of the Year. Offsetting the rich, luxurious menu, a sleek minimalist dining room is set over 2 floors.

A finalist in Young Chef of the Year 2010, Neave brings innate passion and flair to his menu. Sourcing the finest produce from the Scottish countryside, enjoy dishes like Perthshire roe deer with carrot & lavender purée, or North Berwick lobster & crab ravioli. Elegant twists for dessert include Victoria plum soufflé with pistachio biscotti.

As well as a knowledgeably compiled wine list, Michael Neave restaurant in Edinburgh offers an excellent selection of whiskies, rare gins and estate rums. Guests can also enjoy drinks out on the champagne terrace during warmer weather.

    An excellent Saturday lunch menu - the only problem was choosing! Staff very pleasant, as always.

    Really enjoyed meal! Loved the fact that the menu was limited. Soufflé was a highlight as was the risotto! Great atmosphere.

    I met a friend for lunch here and our welcome from staff was very warm. They were very attentive throughout the entire meal and were happy to leave us to chat for ages afterwards. The food was of the highest quality with a good choice on the 'express' menu. My favourite course was carpaccio of venison. Value for money was amazing. Altogether, the perfect venue for an enjoyable lunch. However, outwith the control of the restaurant, there was a very noisy and shrill party of six who made conversation very difficult - they definitely outstayed their welcome! On departure, the staff continued to be friendly and helpful to me and my friend.

    I've eaten here a number of times and the food and service has always been excellent. Have recommended it to many people, many of whom have gone and also been impressed, and I will be back again soon.

    From outside you can't see the restaurant room, you just see the entrance where you can choose to have your apéritif. We prefered to have it in the dining room situated one floor downstairs. We enjoyed our nice table for 2 not too near from the other tables. The food was delicious particularly the meat of main courses. The salmon for entrance was very good, may be not enough in the place. The small balls of bread were also good. The wine from South Africa was not so good as I could imagine. The waiteress did not know very well the dishes when we asked questions about it. It would be better if she had some knowledge about the dishes proposed in the menu. We did not take any desert because they were common, we go to the restaurant to have new experiences.
