Absolutely lovely, especially given it was an express lunch. Eaten out locally quite a lot recently and this was by far the best.

Sadly, we were disappointed for the first time. Firstly, it was so incredibly noisy with large tables of diners (there were only the two of us) that we had to shout to be heard. My cheese allergy hadn't been noted. The service was very slow to start with. For the high prices, the food was not great; two scallops for £10.95 as a starter, a very smal lpiece of halibut with somewhat firm cubed potatoes in a lot of sauce for £19.95; leek and goat's cheese panna cotta for £7.50 and a basic piece of chicken breast and a small amount of risotto for £17.50. On previous visits, we have had dessert and lingered over coffee but on this occasion, we left after our main courses.

Michael Neave is a fabulous hidden gem, we went for the express lunch and it was superb, food was delicious. I can't wait to try the evening menu as I know it will be exceptional. The whole dining experience was special, staff are so friendly and attentive, also love how tables for 2 are positioned around the side and not stuck in the middle. Also Costas the bartender knows his stuff and makes the best cocktails I've tasted in Edinburgh xxx

Saturday Lunch with family, we went with the al a carte menu. Enjoyed our drinks in the bar, wine and drinks menus extensive and bar staff friendly and knowledgeable
I thought the meal was good and ingredients of high quality. Lots of competition in Edinburgh, so considering price and location compared to others, the meal was fair, , but not memorable

Fantastic as usual! Delighted with the new Three Course option.

Lunch was superb. Advertised as £9.99 3 courses with coffee for busy people so I expected lots of business folks. Tables were full but with diners enjoying a leisurely lunch and the service was excellent and allowed for this. Menu changes every day. Need to book ahead but we will.
