My wife and I booked in for the 3 course set menu offer. We both really enjoyed our starters and main courses. I had the chicken and duck liver and the lamb, and my wife had the pumpkin soup and the cod. Unfortunately we were both disappointed with the dessert. I had the banana parfait and my wife had the orange polenta cake. Both were far too fussy with too many flavours going on, and very tart! Disappointing end to the meal. The service and ambience in the restaurant were excellent although this did tail off a bit as it got busier.

We found the whole experience disappointing. It was a quiet lunchtime, but the staff were either arrogant or indifferent and the food was no more than average and over priced for what it was. I declined the option of a discretionary 12% service charge. We also noted that some of the chairs and tables had not been cleaned properly for some time.

The restaurant is lovely and the staff are all excellent. We booked the special three courses with a glass of prosecco. The meal was beautifully presented and delicious. We were recommended the wine with each dish and had two of the three each. With a bottle of water. The only down side was the bill for the drinks cost us far more than the special offer of the meals. Also we did not realise a 12% discretionary charge had been added to the bill and also gave them another fourteen pounds tip. Which made what would have been a relatively inexpensive meal a more costly one. Perhaps we were at fault as we did not read small print or check the bill properly. This would not deter us from eating here again, just be a bit more cautious. As it was our anniversary and therefore a special occassion it was not such an issue, but if we had just gone out for a meal it would have been an expensive evening out.
