Amazing in every aspect. The Restaurant manager Richard and all of his staff looked after us extremely well from the moment we walked in.

Bringing traditional, elegant Japanese cuisine to Mayfair since 1993, Matsuri in London serves authentic teppanyaki, sushi and tempura in a decadent, festival-style setting. Matsuri boasts an eclectic sushi bar and offers a selection of traditional rice and plum wines, whilst teppanyaki cuisine is cooked to order on a sizzling grill, in front of guests.

Deep-fried sea bass drizzled in a citrusy orange Ponzu sauce leads the Matsuri menu, along with crispy-coated squid tempura. Platters of sushi and sashimi feature sweet, firm snow crab, marbled tuna, fleshy surf clams and briny sea urchins, whilst tender, marbled wagyu beef, rich, meaty lobster and foie gras make up the main courses.

Decadent in style, Matsuri restaurant features low ceilings punctuated by scattered spotlights and sleek, silver panelling. Kimono-clad waitresses add to the authenticity of the restaurant, whilst an ornate, Japanese mask made of washi paper and bamboo dominates the stairway leading from the bar to the softly-lit subterranean dining.

A 5-minute walk from Green Park Tube Station, Matsuri in St James's Park is a 12-minute walk to Trafalgar Square.

Attention is made to the smallest details. Food is just great. The kobe beef cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the restaurant has no policy towards Japanese people watching TV on the iPhone without headphones at the same tepanyaki table as you. A shame when paying over 150£ p.p.

Great food. Easy to over order with so many tempting dishes. All delicious but ultimately Expensive £550 for 4 people a la carte - no desserts!

Main teppanyaki was a bit slow to be prepared especially the rice and vegetables - suggest this is done together and less in stages.

Large room was busy and noisy so our party of 4 felt more like 2 parties of 2. Difficult to chat across group

Excellent tepanyaki, nicely laid out with individual grills for each set of 6 or so places. We had an expert and entertaining chef willing to answer questions and interact with us. Will be returning soon.

It was my first time dining at a Japanese restaurant and I absolutely loved the whole concept and dining experience that was offered to us not to mention the complimentary cocktails we were given! The staff and service are fantastic and they really look after you to make your whole experience a very enjoyable and memorable one. Highly recommend Matsuri to anyone that enjoys different tastes and fine dining!
