Firmly holding a Michelin star since 2006, Masons Arms blends classic pub charm and exquisite fine dining delicacies. Set in a 13th-century thatched cottage, owner and chef Mark Dodson brings 12 years’ experience working under Michel Roux.

Transforming honest, locally sourced ingredients into flawless creations, the Masons Arms menu showcases superb culinary skill. Crisply presented Masons restaurant dishes include monkfish loin wrapped in prosciutto with potato puree, or roulade of pork belly, braised red cabbage and apple compote.

Innovative twists for dessert include rhubarb trio or chocolate parfait and mandarin sorbet, or enjoy dainty macarons, homemade fudge and rich coffee. Guests can enjoy a sterling international wine list sourced from boutique growers either in the quaint, farmhouse-style dining room, or out on the lush terrace during summer.

A gem set in the heart of the Devonshire countryside, Masons Arms Knowstone was awarded the prestigious accolade of Michelin’s Pub of the Year in 2010.

What could be better on a dreary November night but a superb meal in a cosy country pub with lovely open fires. Excellent sevice, extensive wine list and the menu offered choices to tempt every palate. We were given plenty of time to enjoy our pre dinner drinks and canapes and to look at the menu. Simple pine tables in the dining room are well spaced creating a comfortable atmosphere. Three courses, drinks, wine and coffee was £75 per head and worth every penny. Everything you would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant and a MUST visit when in Devon.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience across the board. Food was as hoped for with a balance of delicate flavours, ideal portion size & great variation for choice at a good price.

The environment is lovely, the restaurant charming with beautiful views across Exmoor. The staff are welcoming, friendly & knowledgeable, all contributing to a feeling of having experienced something very special. In summary a wonderful dining experience in every sense.

This was our first visit and we enjoyed every single thing about it. As it is a Michelin starred restaurant, the food was going to be good (hopefully!) - and it certainly was. We had the set lunch which was excellent value but would be very tempted to come back one evening for a special occasion. The views are spectacular, the service was excellent but what was lovely was the fact that there was no feeling of being rushed and everyone had time to chat (although I'm sure they were very busy). Sarah was charming and Mark took the time to come out of the kitchen and ask how we had enjoyed the meal.
    Eating out at its best!

The place lived up to its ratings.
Getting there was a pleasure in itself. The tucked away pub in a quiet village on the edge of Exmoor was not what one would expect as a fine dining venue.

As ever a wonderful dining experience with Mark and Sarah continuing to maintain their usual extremely high standard. Fantastic food and a great atmosphere
