Delightful lunch from the first tasty spoonful of appetiser. Richard said as he presented it that he hoped it would show what was to come and that first morsel was a benchmark for the delights that followed. The sourdough and homemade butter delicious. Husbands quail outstanding in flavour, texture, balance and refinement. My scorched mackerel another buzz. I cannot remember a more perfect fish dish than my hake, crisp skin with a good salty taste that added so much but was a subtle undertone to the whole assembly with lentils, sprouting broccoli and whole roasted almonds amongst it. Just wonderful. My husbands beef was fantastic too. We shared a cheeseboard which was a fine balance of well kept produce. Then I topped this off with the chocolate fondant, as after such exemplary cooking, I thought I should not miss! So right. Perfect. Deep, deep chocolate. I rarely eat a pudding as no room, or palate overladen with what has gone before, but it is a mark of Richards great judgement that all is so fine tuned that one is left with lovely taste sensations and memories.

    Thank you so much.
