The eponymous 2 Michelin-starred restaurant from revered chef Marcus Wareing, Marcus is the sophisticated dining space of The Berkeley hotel in Knightsbridge. After 10 glorious years as Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, the restaurant underwent a major renovation, and a name change, to reopen as a more relaxed and contemporary environment.

Serving modern European cuisine rooted in British culture, the Marcus menu presents sumptuous offerings like Galloway beef with potato, cabbage, marrow and short rib, and turbot with Dorset snails, shallot and gnocchi. There’s a creative vegetarian selection offering bold combinations such as burrata with nettles and pine nuts, while an 8-course tasting menu can be partnered with fine wines selected by the sommelier.

Innovative tasting plates feature on the lunch menu at Marcus in London, while an elegant 3-course selection includes the option of ordering just a single course. Providing the perfect balance between sophistication and relaxation, the restaurant interior is characterised by clean, classical lines and a refined colour palette.

Marcus is in Wilton Place, a 4-minute walk from Knightsbridge Tube Station and a 5-minute walk from Hyde Park Corner Tube Station.

Availed of the spring menu, five courses for £50 which I thought represented good value for money for a 2 * restaurant. A few disappointments, the veal course was average, flavours were good but the meat was very chewy, we were offered a replacement but declined as we didn't want to disrupt the flow of service. A complementary cheese course was a nice gesture. Service, twice they started clearing plates whilst one of out party hadn't quite finished, schoolboy error. Finally, might be good to avoid whilst they complete building works, it did get quite noisy. Overall though a very nice lunch and afternoon.

Lovely night. Service was excellent, food was superb and the wine choices by the sommelier were perfect. We even saw Marcus!

As there wasn't many in the restaurant (probably due to the building work going on) the atmosphere was a little flat. And we did find it odd that a few of the couples and groups were constantly on their phones whilst eating at the same time but not talking to each other! But I guess that is something that is quite difficult to stop.
Table service and food was excellent.

A fantastic experience. Too many food highlights to list backed by impeccable service.

An excellent dining experience, beautiful room and table layout with plenty of room. Service was very attentive but unobtrusive, the meal flowed really well with each course explained, a nice touch that the menu is left on the table so you can see exactly what you are eating, but very few restaurants do this and its such such a simple idea? The canape was excellent and in addition to the Spring tasting menu 5 courses. We will certainly return again when in London.

It was our first time at Marcus and sadly we shall not be rushing back. The food was well cook and wonderfully presented, but at times a little bland and not anywhere near as exciting as one might expect from a two Michelin starred restaurant. The amouse Bouche was almost an afterthought, too cold prawn crackers and something else that wasn't well explained. Half the courses were not well explained leaving us to guess what we were having. Having only the lunch menu we weren't expecting to be getting the very best of what the restaurant had to offer. Fortunately the staff were extremely nice and attentive, albeit sometimes unintelligible. Ultimately a pleasant experience, but not quite in the same league as most of the other two Michelin star restaurants in London. If you want attentive staff, well cooked but uninteresting food in a great surrounding then Marcus will suffice.

A thoroughly enjoyable lunch.Absolutely top quality ingredients and technique.
We decided on the Spring Tasting Menu with the accompanying prestige wines, each course explained and wines also.
Perhaps the portions where the meat and fish course could have been a little larger?
An excellent venue for a celebration!
