The eponymous 2 Michelin-starred restaurant from revered chef Marcus Wareing, Marcus is the sophisticated dining space of The Berkeley hotel in Knightsbridge. After 10 glorious years as Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, the restaurant underwent a major renovation, and a name change, to reopen as a more relaxed and contemporary environment.

Serving modern European cuisine rooted in British culture, the Marcus menu presents sumptuous offerings like Galloway beef with potato, cabbage, marrow and short rib, and turbot with Dorset snails, shallot and gnocchi. There’s a creative vegetarian selection offering bold combinations such as burrata with nettles and pine nuts, while an 8-course tasting menu can be partnered with fine wines selected by the sommelier.

Innovative tasting plates feature on the lunch menu at Marcus in London, while an elegant 3-course selection includes the option of ordering just a single course. Providing the perfect balance between sophistication and relaxation, the restaurant interior is characterised by clean, classical lines and a refined colour palette.

Marcus is in Wilton Place, a 4-minute walk from Knightsbridge Tube Station and a 5-minute walk from Hyde Park Corner Tube Station.

Amazing!! We are addicted, fantastic food. Dessert was wonderful, especially my husband's mini birthday cake... going to wait until they have fondant on the menu! Would go back again for dinner, loved it!

The Bookatable deal was the taste of Spring menu - a set menu with a choice from two dishes for the fourth course. We found the dishes got better as we worked our way through. The salmon and turbot dishes really were very small which was a shame because the turbot was delicious. The star was the lamb - beautifully cooked with a deep, intense jus but, as often seems the case, not enough jus.

The wine list is hideously expensive. The cheapest bottle was £50 but fortunately they offered a sommelier's selection of 3 different glasses of wine (a white and two red) to go with the four courses at a reasonable price. The wines were lovely.

Service was excellent but two things weren't quite right. There was no bread basket selection as such. A bowl arrived with lovely looking bread but it tasted of aniseed which we don't like so they had to rustle up some white rolls. More disappointingly, the plates (and therefore the food) tended to be lukewarm at best.

The dining room wasn't full by any means but the tables are generously sized and spaced and the seats comfortable. It perhaps lacks some ambience which improved as it filled up a bit during the evening.

My first 2 star experience and very pleasant too but perhaps not as wow as I had hoped.

A very enjoyable lunch, attentive service, excellent food and wine. Although it definitely was a 'tasting' menu, by the end, we were surprisingly full. The restaurant was only about 25% full, so there was a lack of 'buzz', but all in all, it was a very pleasant experience.
