Marco's New York Italian London Bridge brings an authentic yet contemporary concept to the Mercure Hotel. Offering simple food done well, fresh, quality ingredients pack the comforting dishes.

Served with signature MPW flair, the Marco’s menu mixes sumptuous Italian favourites and timeless North American staples. Enjoy humble Italian dishes such as spaghetti di pomodoro, or a freshly-fired pizza with a range of classic toppings. American classics include smoked baby back ribs and the Great American Beef Burger, packed with barbecue sauce, bacon and Monterey Jack cheese.

Thick, straw-slurping shakes, fruity cocktails and a selective wine list are offered at the Marco’s bar, alongside rich coffees and a lengthy stock of chilled international beers. For dessert, indulge in baked NYC cheesecake, Marco’s signature tiramisu, or semifreddo with fresh raspberries.

Food was fine. However watch out for the bill, it stated 0.00 for service at the bottom of it, which at first led me to believe that I needed to add a service charge to the final cost. However, on double checking the whole bill, the service charge was listed as an item with the food. I actually wrote on the bill pointing out where there service charge had already been included - it may have simply been an error but not a nice finish to the meal.

The main course could be better. There wasn't enough salt in both the dishes and not enough sauce aswel.

They weren't ready for us at midday despite us having a booking for 6 people, and apparently some of their staff was sick. They asked if we could sit in the foyer of the hotel, but we opted for outside. We waited ages for someone to take our order. The food was appalling - I specifically asked for my prawns to be peeled and they arrived cut in half. £6 for what seemed to be 2 prawns! I ordered spaghetti, but it was very basic and nothing special. I had to request parmesan. Those who had meat complained it was dry and not that tasty. One of our party requested a non-gluten free bun and ended up getting a burger between 2 pieces of dry toast with no sauce or salad. All in all, we were there for nearly 2 hours and I paid nearly £30 for basic tomato spaghetti with prawns, a glass of wine and a coffee. Not impressed. We sat outside, which unfortunately looks over a carpark and the building on Lavington Street where I work which is really unattractive! The 2 stars are for the sweet lady who serves us who doesn't normally work the lunch hour but was helping out.

Steak was excellent, wild mushroom sauce had a great taste, sweet potato chips were crispy and chilli spinach was very tasty. Nice atmosphere and good front of house service.

Lovely restaurant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The food was of very high quality, and had "proper sized" portions. By the time I'd finished. There was no room for more.
The chocolate brownie is large enough to share. Be warned.
