The experience was amazing. Lovely setting, over looking the river was so pretty, very relaxing, music was just right, the food was very nice, and the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough. I would definitely recommend and would love to go back. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Serving modern British cuisine from the world-famous chef, the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill looks out over a lawn leading to the river Cam, just upstream of a punt rental station.

The décor at this Marco Pierre White restaurant in Cambridge is contemporary and minimalist, with the focus being on the views from the large glass windows of the brasserie. From here you can see the Mill Pond meadow and the punters (of varying degrees of skill) making their way down the river.

In the summer the doors are opened onto the terrace in front of the brasserie, and guests can wander the grounds, or sip tea under the shade of trees.

Just a 3-minute walk from Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill is Cambridge's famous mathematical bridge, belonging to Queen's College just opposite. The city centre is also an 8-minute walk away, complete with its shops, theatres and other colleges.

We were received pleasantly and given sufficient time to settle in ahead of being offered the pre arranged afternoon tea for a party of four. The sandwiches were OK but not out of the ordinary and (as experienced elsewhere), afternoon tea seems top heavy with cakes rather than the choice of more savoury items. Nonetheless, replacement pots of tea were on offer as was table water on request. On a cold, dank February afternoon, the window area proved too cold for those on a neighbouring table who had to move. To be honest, I changed places with a companion to get on the lee side of the draught coming through the door forming part of the glass wall overlooking the River Cam. A good view, by the way. The room is pleasantly furnished with comfortable chairs and sofas (especially so) although another companion thought it looked in need of a makeover, making the observation she was now so used to London establishments that this may have affected her tastes and outlook. Would we go again? Probably. A no rush, leisurely and pleasant experience will almost certainly trump the slight downsides.

Was expecting something spectacular- although the venue is very nice and the service was prompt we were not visited at the table to see how things were and whether we needed anything more- (another pot of tea would not have gone amiss)- the range and extent of sandwiches was a little on the meager side but the scone and the other little cakes made up for this. Overall not a bad day out.

Excellent food and service. Ambience felt great. Only complaint would be a very noisy family sitting beside us.

We spent the afternoon having afternoon tea, we were offered the festive selection, selection of sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and small cakes, which was really good even going the extra mile not putting the cranberry and mustard in the sandwiches as we not too keen on them.A lovely special touch too as it was my daughters birthday they wrote happy birthday in chocolate on the top plate of the server.A lovely view of the sunset and river from the restaurant.Young lady who served us was so sweet and nothing was too much. Thank you very much for a lovely afternoon.

Whilst the breakfast was fine, the dinner was hardly what could be expected from a Michelin starred chef and I can only conclude that Michel P White cannot have personally created the menu or supervised its production and his only role is to sell his name for publicity.
