Serving modern British cuisine from the world-famous chef, the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill looks out over a lawn leading to the river Cam, just upstream of a punt rental station.

The décor at this Marco Pierre White restaurant in Cambridge is contemporary and minimalist, with the focus being on the views from the large glass windows of the brasserie. From here you can see the Mill Pond meadow and the punters (of varying degrees of skill) making their way down the river.

In the summer the doors are opened onto the terrace in front of the brasserie, and guests can wander the grounds, or sip tea under the shade of trees.

Just a 3-minute walk from Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill is Cambridge's famous mathematical bridge, belonging to Queen's College just opposite. The city centre is also an 8-minute walk away, complete with its shops, theatres and other colleges.

    Really lovely afternoon tea

Brilliant experience! The service was spot on from when we entered and the food/ drink was divine. We were a group of girls celebrating significant birthdays and everyone went out of their way to make us feel really special including complimentary champagne, birthday desserts and plenty of laughs with the staff. Thanks you so much, cannot recommend highly enough and will definitely be dining here again! x

Took my daughter for afternoon tea for her birthday it was lovely
The location was nice by the river, the food was very tasty and friendly service.
Only gripe and reason I didn't leave 5 stars is that they automatically add 10% service charge to the bill. I know some places do for 10 or more people but there was only 4 of us. If the service and food is yummy I always leave a tip anyway.

Disappointed. We were seated in a very bare and bland function room away from the main restaurant. The table was too big to be able to carry out a decent conversation between the 5 of us and whilst the table cloth I'm assuming was a table cloth, it could easily have been a bed sheet. Flowers on the table would have helped. I'd told them in advance we were celebrating a birthday but no special cake or acknowledgement of this to make it special. There was jazz music being played which was a bit too loud and I think piano music would have been more appropriate. Food was nice and they did a special tea for one member of the party who is lactose intolerant. I ordered a latte which was warm not hot but when I ordered a second one and mentioned this, the second was hot. View from the room was the best bit as it looked out over the river.

Delightful afternoon tea - overlooking the river - probably, after the colleges, the best view in Cambridge! Staff pleasant and helpful. The hotel made a mistake on the bill so I paid a little too much but should be resolved soon.

The experience was amazing. Lovely setting, over looking the river was so pretty, very relaxing, music was just right, the food was very nice, and the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough. I would definitely recommend and would love to go back. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

We were received pleasantly and given sufficient time to settle in ahead of being offered the pre arranged afternoon tea for a party of four. The sandwiches were OK but not out of the ordinary and (as experienced elsewhere), afternoon tea seems top heavy with cakes rather than the choice of more savoury items. Nonetheless, replacement pots of tea were on offer as was table water on request. On a cold, dank February afternoon, the window area proved too cold for those on a neighbouring table who had to move. To be honest, I changed places with a companion to get on the lee side of the draught coming through the door forming part of the glass wall overlooking the River Cam. A good view, by the way. The room is pleasantly furnished with comfortable chairs and sofas (especially so) although another companion thought it looked in need of a makeover, making the observation she was now so used to London establishments that this may have affected her tastes and outlook. Would we go again? Probably. A no rush, leisurely and pleasant experience will almost certainly trump the slight downsides.
